It feels weird to say I liked this collection of three short stories. It was very well written and truly horrifying. The first story being the most notorious and divisive. I think all three accomplished both commentary on connections we feel and our belief systems. All the content warnings for these! 4⭐️

Gruesome doesn't even begin to describe LaRocca's deliciously dark selection of short stories. My favorite was the titular tale, but these three stories prove there is another exciting voice in horror to pay attention to.

Three short stories. The title story is, by far, one of the most disturbing stories I have ever read. Upon finishing, I sat for quite some time staring off into the distance, processing what I had just read. An excellent story.

The Enchantment was lackluster in comparison.

You‘ll Find It‘s Like That All Over was an absolute delight.

Overall, highly recommended. One of my favorites that I‘ve ever read.

This is a collection of three short stories. The titular story is the reason I bought this book, as I had heard a lot about it. I was looking for something dark and disturbing. This story in particular delivers, but I was hoping for a little more. (It actually references a "news article" about two young brothers, now that is a story I would have definitely read.)

In the third story in Things Have Gotten Worse, a man finds a #Bone in his backyard. This starts him on a weird encounter with his neighbor.

The most #Wicked individuals aren't characters in fiction books, and Cannibal Killers contains acts of true wickedness.

The Pumpkin Queen makes a discovery about the #Dead leaves inside her.

In Outcast the real #Evil isn't what you think.

Although this collection only has three stories in it, they are each excellent, grotesque, and absolutely unforgettable.

The title story about two girls and their toxic relationship is so well written that I felt trapped inside their insanity while reading.

The Enchantment is a dark, captivating tale about losing faith.

You'll Find It's Like That All Over is a strange tale about neighbors, power, and control.

I loved all three!

I own the original novella of this indie author and Penguin Random House picked him up and compiled his work into a trio of horror stories. Beginning with the first of an e-mail exchange gone wrong, the second, a grieving couple on a remote island meet a stranger, and the last, a friendly neighborly wager goes off the rails in this macabre and chilling tales.

Well there goes my NYE resolution to read longer books. 🤨😆🎉
