Star Wars: Convergence (The High Republic)
Star Wars: Convergence (The High Republic) | Zoraida Cordova
10 posts | 5 read | 1 to read
The next adventure in the High Republic begins expanding the new era of Star Wars, with a story set generations before Light of the Jedi. It is an age of exploration. Jedi travel the galaxy, expanding their understanding of the Force and all the worlds and beings connected by it. Meanwhile, the Republic, led by its two chancellors, works to unite worlds in an ever-growing community among near and distant stars. On the close-orbiting planets of Eiram and Eronoh, the growing pains of a galaxy with limited resources but unlimited ambition are felt keenly. The two worlds hatred for each other has fueled half a decade of escalating conflict and now threatens to consume surrounding systems. The last hope for peace emerges when heirs from the planets royal families plan to marry. Before lasting peace can be established, an assassination attempt targeting the couple tilts Eiram and Eronoh back into all-out war. To save both worlds, Jedi Knight Gella Nattai volunteers to uncover the culprit, while Chancellor Kyong appoints her own son, Axel Greylark, to represent the Republics interests in the investigation. But Axels deep distrust of the Jedi sparks against Gellas faith in the Force. Shes never met such a puffed-up, privileged party boy, and hes never met a more self-serious, relentless do-gooder. The harder they work to untangle the shadowy web of the investigation, the more complicated the conspiracy appears to be. With accusations flying and potential enemies in every shadow, the pair will have to work together to have any hope of bringing the truth to light and saving both worlds.

My library‘s got a lot of displays up right now, so they didn‘t have a shelf to spare for May the 4th. Rolly cart to the rescue!

Started this one on paper but switched over up audio when it came off my holds, I love star wars books on audio. A great story, I liked the relationship between the two royals a lot. Kind of intrigued to see where things go with Greylark. The high republic is a lot to keep up with, I will say that. I‘ve read quite a few and still think I‘ve got big knowledge gaps. Love the selection of authors though. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

TieDyeDude I was excited about the High Republic, and went all in on phase one but was ultimately disappointed. I haven't touched phase two yet. Agreed, though, that Star Wars puts out some great audio books! 13mo
sarahgreatlove @TieDyeDude yeah I think they lose me when they make it so you have to have read every item, including comics and the special audio only stuff, to follow the overall plot. The comics aren‘t as easy to find here so I have found that‘s where I start to get a bit lost. 13mo
TieDyeDude Yeah, I had a local comic shop at the time, so I used the library for all the middle grade, YA, and adult novels and owned all the comics from phase 1. Luckily, I found someone to buy all the comics before our recent move 13mo

The Path of the Open Hand is causing chaos again. This time on Eiram and E'ronon. The two worlds have been a war for years and this is their latest and best chance for piece. The prince and princess have agreed to marry to unite the two and hopefully end the war. But the Path has its own ideas.

At first I wasn't really convinced by this, but the more time I spent with these characters and more I got to like them, the more I enjoyed the story. The topic of this book hit me from the start, especially with all that's going on in the world right now. Could we maybe borrow some Jedi, please? Some scenes were hard on my feelings, which seems to happen more and more with the new Star Wars books.

Reposting for @BookwormAHN
In September, we met Zallah Macri, Kevmo, Marda, & The Path of the Open Hand. I really enjoyed that one. What did y'all think of it?
October, we meet Jedi Knight Gella Nattai & Alex Greylark.
As always if anyone wants to be added or removed just let me know. And May the Force Be With You Always 🚀

I think…I think I might like Phase 2 of The High Republic even more than Phase 1. There. I said it. These books continue to entertain as they expand the Star Wars universe with interesting characters, fantastic villains, high stakes and serious consequences. And the willingness to dwell in shades of gray, where right and wrong vary depending on point of view, makes these stories all the better. This was a great book & I‘m looking forward to more.

It doesn‘t matter how big the TBR pile is, right? There‘s always room for another book…or two…even three…
