What didn‘t work for me - I didn‘t learn anything new about self care either in general or for ADHD and I can already tell I won‘t remember most of this even though I jotted down a few notes. What did work for me - It goes into a wider range of symptoms and behaviors and the science behind them that I‘d heard before, and since it‘s often hard to pinpoint what is causing a specific pattern or symptom it was interesting to consider in that light.

I can not recommend this book enough. It really understood what life with adhd is like, and no wonder as the author is both a psychiatrist and a diagnosied adhd neurodivergent.

Today‘s self care was going to be a walk in the Japanese‘s gardens. But the weather had other idea…it was too wet to walk on the path! Here is a toadstool from my front yard though. There is nature everywhere when you look!

To start tomorrow. Probably a good one to read for me. My brain is seriously hyperactive (and until I was diagnosed I would have honestly thought I was only ADHD-inattentive…not combined, but here we are)

Cuilin I always thought I was combined, but getting more inattentive with menopause. Sounds like a good read for me too. 4mo
Darklunarose @Cuilin I admit with age comes more difficulty with focus….and retaining things! 4mo

“Self care starts with the belief that you are valuable.” I love this. Many people with ADHD grow up thinking they are not valuable. This happens after years of being told we‘re not good enough. I‘ve spend my adult years, especially after my diagnosis, rebuilding my self-worth. Self-care is one way I have rebuilt it.
