So you‘ve heard of Hy-Brasil? That mystical isle off the west coast of Ireland? 16 (or maybe 17) year old Bridget has grown up there with only 2 mages for company.
pickThis was a delightful original YA fantasy with no romance. About a teenage orphan who was taken in by a magician as a baby. The magician is trying to bring magic back into the world. This has a very unique world and magic system. It is also a standalone, which is a rarity. Though not highly complex, it was a fun read. 4⭐️
pickIs historical magic a thing? If so this book set in 1912 is it - the period details were great, the magic was well described and mostly made sense and the story was really about families and growing up, about power and control. Lots packed in and I really enjoyed it (reading in the sunshine helped)
