What a great premise: three teens are all trying to figure out how to escape from the walled city, all in different circumstances. But for me it just didn‘t work. The plot was too thin and there wasn‘t enough character development to compensate for that. I‘ve liked her other books, but this one is lacking.

I am posting a book every day from my TBR collection. 📚
Day 76

#CoronaBreak Book 15. This was a great YA thriller. It read like historical fiction with almost a Hunger Games-y twist. I read the last 150 pages in one day!

“There are three rules of survival in theWalled City: Run fast. Trust no one. Always carry your knife.”
I finally got a chance to read take some time to read this yesterday and finish it this morning. It was so good! I love this authors writing and how she tells such a great story. The characters are written well. In the authors notes she shares that their was a walled city in Hong Kong and shares photos of it.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Dollar Tree finds!!! I ran into the Dollar Tree during work yesterday to get paper plates which happened to be next to the book section! They had a lot of good titles but these looked the best!! I loved Ryan Graudin‘s other series so I figure why not pick this up, for a $1?!!

First Book of the New Year... Happy 2018! #Thewalledcity #RyanGraudin #2018anewyear

Found this book awhile back and I keep putting off reading it. But I‘m drawn to it. Whenever I look over my tbr pile, this book always jumps out at me. I finally caved. I hope it‘s as cool as it looks.

My last 5 star read. This book made me fall in love with Ryan Graudin's work. TWC is so powerful. I think about almost daily and I read it over a year ago. Love this book.

"What do you most want after free from this place?"
"I want to go to sea."
"Why?"
"I don't know, i'm just ... want."

"My window boy...."
Hello, this is my first time on litsy account. I love books, hamster, a cup of ice chocolate and a bunch of french fries #potatoforlife! . I'm 17 y.o. I born and live on Indonesia. Nice to meet you all ?.

Make sure to read the author's note at the end! It absolutely influenced my rating and it's really something we should all know. I didn't mind the fictional elements of this book. I thought it was well written overall but the plot wrapped up too perfectly for my liking in a dystopian novel that is based on real problems such as human trafficking and ghettoized communities. The world building & historical information was incredible and so unique.

I will forever have Ryan Graudin's books in my TBR after the Wolf by Wolf duology...plus the tagline of this book makes me feel like this is more of an informative read with how the world is currently going...
"Run Fast.
Trust no one.
Always carry your knife."

Turns out another one of my thrift store finds was signed 😎 I can't wait to get into this one. It looks so good. Anyone else read it?

Dang. This audio book was wonderful. The descriptions were beautiful, the situations were realistic and believable. And then the author's note blew my mind - there was actually a walled city. Just wow.

This book took me completely by surprise- I opened it up thinking it was just another YA fantasy type and was blown away by its depth. I will say no more but READ IT!!! 😍😍😍😍
