Hey guys! What‘s going on this fine Monday? For me? Well, I don‘t want to brag but, I just finished my first book since September. So this is a pretty big deal for me. Lol. To pull me out of my reading slump could only be done by a psychotic murderous unreliable narrator. It was a fantastic time hanging out with Anya!•

THAT BIG BOOK SALE was amazing! I bought three hardcover books for $11! Crazy!! This is three day event in Mt. Pleasant, SC. It was first time going and I will definitely go again next year! This event raised over $5,000 for local libraries. So, so amazing!

When you can‘t finish a book in a “reasonable” time does it drive you crazy? It does me. I‘ve been in a terrible reading slump lately and all I want to do is finish a book. I have no problem starting, but it is TAKING FOREVER to finish, if at all. Any tips/tricks for pleasure reading in a busy, mind numbing schedule?•

My October tbr isn‘t ambitious by any means but since it‘s been taking me FOREVER to finish a book, if I even finish it, two books is a lot for me to take on. Especially since I have SO MUCH SCHOOL stuff. But these are two books I really want to read. Especially TLTIL! So, wish me all the good vibes and motivation!•

Day seven of #bannedbooksweek I‘m showing off BELOVED. Definitely a very hard book to read. I can understand why this book would be challenged but it‘s definitely a book people should have the option of reading. This book has been challenged pretty much every year since it‘s been published. Reasons are “includes scenes of violent sex, including gang rape, and too graphic and extreme for teenagers.”•

Day six of #bannedbooksweek I‘m showing off my favorite challenged books because it‘s just the most ridiculous challenge ever. I cannot roll my eyes far enough back. These are the three MOST challenged books of the HP series that I could find. The entire series has been challenged at one time or another. The most frequent complaint is that the books “promote Wicca practice.” Seriously? 😂•

Linsy Beautiful! 6y
Linsy Seriously, these are the three most challenged? I thought at first you picked them for the pic because they go so well together! 6y
KuehlerBookStop @Linsy yep! Most challenged. I think one year all 6 were on this list. 7 hadn‘t come out yet! These editions are gorgeous! 6y

Day five of #bannedbooksweek I‘m showing off ALL THE BRIGHT PLACES and ELEANOR & PARK. E&P challenged for use of vulgar language and both books challenged for being “pornographic.” Both of these books touch on subjects that are extremely relevant today. Depression/anxiety, fitting in, finding yourself, and love. These are things everyone needs to read about, things people need to be able to relate to and empathize with. #bannedbooksbonanza

Linsy Agreed! Kids need to see themselves in the media they consume and how these subjects are handled. (edited) 6y

Day four of #bannedbooksweek I‘m showing of Fifty Shades of Grey. One of my favorite series. This book is constantly being challenged. Most recently in 2016 (I think 🤔) for....wait for it....”very, very erotic, with all kinds of sex, sex sadism and masochism. And concerns of being poor literature” (ila.org). I bet you didn‘t see those reasons coming!•

For day three of #bannedbooksweek I‘m showing off FAHRENHEIT 451. This book has been challenged because the book has discussions of being drunk, smoking cigarettes, violence, “dirty talk,” references to the Bible and using God‘s name in vain (ala.org 2006). How absolutely absurd.•

For day two of #bannedbooksweek I‘m showing off THIRTEEN REASONS WHY. Challenged because a parent considered this book to be “pornographic.” Which, I‘m pretty certain, high schoolers are already looking at, and this is a book that most definitely needs to be read. By ALL ages.•

It‘s #bannedbooksweek! My second favorite week of the year. This week I‘m going to show off a few of my favorite banned/challenged books and the reason for being challenged. First up is ALL AMERICAN BOYS challenged for depicting policy brutality and painting police to be violent. I enjoy showing books that have been challenged because I hate censorship. I hate people telling other people what they shouldn‘t read.

Linsy Love this! You should join my giveaway! #BannedBooksBonanza (edited) 6y

I saw a leaf fall today so that means it‘s time to read @maggie_stiefvater. I don‘t know what it is about her books but fall really makes me crave her writing. Maybe it‘s because her writing has a way of curling around you and making you feel safe even though you have no idea what will happen. Or maybe it‘s because her writing is so magical with a hint if darkness to it. Or maybe it‘s simply because her books are like coming home.

Unwilling Key (book 2) is so immersive making the journey, the action, the trials, that much more enthralling. Reunite with old characters & meet new characters who bring a completely new dynamic to the story. She gives us answers to questions we want to know & some we do not know we need but Sarah also continuously keeps us guessing. It is both unnerving & exhilarating how Sarah Beth Moore keeps us in the dark.

I was skeptical of this book because it‘s Stephanie Perkins. The Queen of cute YA contemporaries that are squishy and adorable and full of love. Well, lol, this book is blood, guts, and gore and it‘s fantastic because it done in a way only Stephanie can do. Thoroughly creeped out but I‘m enjoying it!

There's a thing that sometimes happens in your brain when you're the only survivor of a horrific accident. Part of you is happy because you're alive, but the rest of you in devastated. Then the sad part beats up the happy part until nothing is left, until all you feel is terrible sorrow for the people who didn't make it.

I finished Nemesis by @brendan.reichs and my head exploded. Not at all how I saw this book ending. I'm still trying to wrap my head around it. What an evil mastermind you'd have to be to write a conspiracy like this one. Hats off to you, sir! Now I will be holding all future books to this level of mind blowing-ness. Such a clever, witty, exceptional book. I eagerly await book two. •
