bailedThis was a #Goodreads giveaway and it's so pretty, I wanted desperately to love it. But the truth is it's a total snore - there is no real conflict - everything always works out perfect for our Fairy Princess. She meets the hero and hates him for about 10 minutes- then they're hopelessly in love! It's mostly page after page (647 of them!) of descriptions of clothes, and the food they ate ,and when she bathed and what Lady was in love w/ what Lord.
My new coffee nook /reading spot - thanks to 🎅for the early gift of a Kuerig ❤ Any one have favorite k- cups to suggest? I plan to stock the bookshelf with my short story collections ( I have over 50 volumes!) so there's always a quick read nearby.

so-soOverall I enjoyed it. It is intense and creepy scary in places, but sometimes dragged a bit for me. My biggest peeve was that the main character was just so WHINY, sometimes I wanted to shake her! But this might be blamed on the narrator. If you like weak seeming female protagonists who find their strength and/ or creepy otherworld stories give it a try. #audiocoloring

pickI LOVE this book. It drew me in from the very first words and held on right until the end. I loved the mystery of Penny's family and that Zink gives you the pieces of the back story, but doesn't spell it out - lets you get there on your own. #BOTM is 2 for 2 with me now! I'm already anticipating next month! Also love the color theme I've got going on here 😎

They could have let Dad sleep through all that. Everybody knows people are animals, only smarter. It's wrong to torture any animal, even for it's own good. Especially then. But instead of giving him real drugs, they kept wanting him to be alert, so he could make his peace with God. I always thought religuous people were massively annoying. Now I know they're evil.

They can fill you up with sweetness and leave you like a cat who has found a particularly fat sparrow to eat and did not get clawed or bitten even once while she was about it. But they can also get stuck inside you, and very slowly boil up your bones for their bitter soup. Then the secret has you, not the other way around.
pickWow. On the surface it's a typical "teen rebels, gets in a lot of trouble, but learns important lessons about life/himself" - but it goes much deeper than that- to questioning the very existence of god and meaning of religion . All beautifully written. This one will stay with me.

pickNice creepy story. If you've played the games you're probably already familiar with the story - so in some ways it's better if you're a newbie! It's published by scholastic and marketed towards teens and tweens - but you're mileage may vary on appropriateness. My 9 year old LOVES it - but there is murder and mayhem - including murder of children and although not really graphic , a few scenes are disturbing.
These, as you can probably tell from their loved condition 😚 are a few of my favorite #rereads .I've also reread the first 3 Outlander books so much they fell apart and I had to replace them digitally. (someday, when I win the lottery, I'm going to buy that beautiful HB set with the wraparound cover 😍 ) #booktober @RealLifeReading
