Marie Antoinette gets a bad rap😛This was such a DEEP DIVE… 16 hours and MA doesn‘t even become Queen. I should have paid more attention to the title 😉This book only covers the years 1760- 1774. The book would have been wonderful if the author slimmed it down by about 250 pages. The plus….I feel very well informed for my upcoming visit to Versailles in November 🤓👇🏼

Cinfhen Apparently this is book 1 in a trilogy about Marie Antoinette - im actually inclined to read more 🇫🇷👑#TitlesAndTunes #DramaQueen @BarbaraBB 7mo
BarbaraBB A whole trilogy, that‘ll be lots of drama! 7mo
Cinfhen I can only imagine @BarbaraBB all the DRAMA indeed 🎭 7mo

Cinfhen I‘m not ready for book two yet @Bornwithcuriosity but I will get to it at some point before my trip ❣️ 7mo
julesG Is it fiction or non-fiction? 7mo
Cinfhen It‘s historical fiction @julesG but it‘s SO THOROUGH!! I don‘t think much was fictionalized. It‘s pretty accurate from what I can tell. 7mo
TrishB I‘ve read- it‘s very detailed but I really enjoyed. Loved Versailles too ❤️ 7mo
Cinfhen It was a bit too long but I enjoyed it too @TrishB did you read the other two books??? 7mo
TrishB I did - it feels like it was quite some time ago though! 7mo

This is the first in a trilogy, so we only get as far into Marie Antoinette‘s life as Louis XV dying and she and her husband succeeding to the throne when they are 18-years old. I did like how she was portrayed in this novel, and I appreciated the author‘s note at the end, which explains that the majority of people and events in the book did happen. I am really looking forward to reading the next book.

I'm such a sucker for books with royalty in them. If the story takes place in a castle, has a King, Queen, Prince or Princess I'm going to read it. Reading books that breathes life into past history, that can weave vivid details in war, ambition, love, and heartache, that's my kind of book.

This is what happens when I get sad and depressed. I say, "Fuck it" then go to the dollar store and search the small book section. Results:

Daughter_of_Opulence @HeatherBlue It's Elusion by Claudia Gabe and Cheryl Klam. It is. It's actually the first book of its series. This is the FIRST time I've found the first book of a series. Usually I find the second, third or fourth. 6y
