“Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
The frumious Bandersnatch!”

This story uses funny words that you just can‘t help but absolutely love it. This story is a great introduction of Alice in Wonderland to children. This poem is just as silly as the full story so it will pique kids interests and help them to explore worlds that are fantastical and have them use their imagination.

This poem is a nonsense poem that shows the fight of good over evil. This nonsense poem keeps the kids interested and shows them a different style of poem they may not be used to.

National Poetry Month: Day 22! 📖❤

This poem means a lot to me because it's actually Chaplin's favorite poem! I KNOW THAT SOUNDS CRAZY, BUT HEAR ME OUT! 😸 I read aloud to my cats often, but whenever I read THIS poem to Chaplin, his tail poofs up with happiness, he does this little paw shuffle/jig, and starts purring up a storm! I will always love this poem for that reason! 😻💕📚

wanderinglynn That‘s so awesome! 💜🐱 2y
vivastory He's a wise one! He knows to shun the frumious Bandersnatch. This is a favorite of mine, as well. Have you ever read Carroll's Phantasmagoria? It's a narrative poem about the etiquette of the afterlife. It's been awhile since I've read it, but I remember finding it pretty humorous. 2y

A small puppet company in our city is putting on a theatrical production of Jabberwocky, so naturally I bought tickets for my dad and sister and here we are! 😱

AmyG Of course! Have fun. 6y
Lindy I love this Old Trout production! A very different take on Jabberwocky. And there‘s a scrolling scenic backdrop that‘s about 7 km long. 6y
Jabberwocky @lindy it was really good! I am definitely still processing everything I saw. I would 100% see another play by them! @AmyG Thank you! It was splendidly weird. 6y
Lindy @Jabberwocky Famous Puppet Death Scenes & The Last Supper of Antonin Careme are my two favourite Old Trout shows, but all of them are worth seeing. (edited) 6y

After umpteen lit classes and reading endless volumes of poetry, this poem that I first read as a child is still one of my two favorite poems ever. Nonsense? Yes. But it is beautiful. If you like poetry even a little and haven't read this one, do it. Other favorite? Ozymandias
