Mirror Lake is a typical small town and the Holts are a typical small town family. These statements are true and they‘re also not true. From the beginning our perceptions of the town and family start to unravel. Hazel is a somewhat unreliable narrator. What is really going on in Mirror Lake and is her home haunted? This book will twist you up! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Mehso-so

Why do I keep reading Miranda books if they‘re usually only so-so or pan for me? I‘m not sure. This one was definitely #MoreMehThanYeah.

Hazel is the daughter of tiny Mirror Lake‘s police chief. When he suddenly dies and a drought uncovers two sunken cars in the lake, she must piece together family secrets — including those held by her two brothers.

I've read most of her books and I feel like her writing is getting better and better with each one. I really enjoyed this book. I loved not knowing what direction it was going to take. My interest never waned. It held my attention from beginning to end.

Megan Miranda is an auto go to author for me. She writes books that always keep me guessing. Always have me turning the pages. I've not been disappointed by her yet.

This is a wild ride getting to know the Holt family. Gage, Caden, and Hazel. Hazel comes back to Mirror Lake after their dad dies. For his memorial service. Then things take a sharp turn for her. For them.

I‘ve read every Megan Miranda book and I truly think this is her best!! The insular small town setting, the tense sibling dynamics, the constant feeling of isolation, and the secrets and twists! This was so good and I literally could not stop reading it. This was the easiest 5 stars to give!

This was really good. A lot of twists and turns, people hiding in the shadows, sneaking into the family home. What are they looking for? What was Hazel‘s father trying to tell her from the grave? What is everyone hiding from Hazel? It‘s a page turner.

Back in town for the funeral of her father, town sheriff Perry Holt, Hazel Sharp returns to Mirror Lake for the first time in 10 years. Just when she thinks it's safe to leave, Hazel's one time BFF (now Caden's wife) disappears. This is not the first disappearance in Mirror Lake, Hazel's own mother disappeared when Hazel was 14 years old, but her mother just skipped town without telling anyone. Didn't she?

OutsmartYourShelf Set in a town where the region is suffering from a long drought which is gradually revealing hidden secrets in the body of water the town is named for, the atmosphere is a powder keg of emotions. For all that though, I thought it was quite a slow read. I also didn't really warm to Hazel unlike the protagonists in some of the author's other books & I found her a bit meh as a main character. 3w
OutsmartYourShelf There were some good twists & turns in the story but the ending was a little abrupt & there were some loose ends not really tied up. I absolutely love the cover though as those colours are really eye-catching. 3.5🌟

My thanks to #NetGalley & publishers, Quercus Books, for the opportunity to read an ARC.

Ohhhh..this is a good one!!

Hazel‘s father died, and in addition to the shock of his death was the shock that he left the family home ONLY to her and not her brothers. That caused a good deal of bad feelings.

While she was home for the funeral more shocking things happened.

Ms. Miranda certainly knows how to weave a storyline.

You won‘t be able to put DAUGHTER OF MINE down. 5/5

This had the perfect amount of suspense &mystery mixed w/ some family &small town drama, giving us a story that‘s hard to put down as you try to figure out the truth behind all the secrets unraveling. I had no idea who to trust. Combine that w/ the strange events that kept happening in the house & I was thoroughly creeped out & afraid. The writing overall furthered the suspense & made for such an atmospheric read. By the end my nerves were frayed.
