4 🌟 Oliver Jeffers knows how to write a simple and sweet story. In this, a little boy finds a lost penguin and is determined to help him find home. But in the end, he realizes that maybe the penguin was not lost at all, maybe he was just lonely. Jeffers is a popular author for a reason and this book does not disappoint.

Magpiegem I really love reading this book with my kids 😊 2y

Lost and Found is a MF picture book that is written and illustrated by Oliver Jeffers. This book is about a boy who finds a penguin at his front door and the two of them go on a journey to return the penguin home. The book ends with a pleasant heart warming surprise that will make this already adorable book one to remember. I would use this book in my classroom as a SR because students can be predicting throughout the text.

UDL: 5.3
ESOL: 8 Use direct instruction: Modeling, explaining, scaffolding, name the
strategy and show how to use it.
By reading this book as a shared reading it allows the teacher to model the being a good reader. She can set the expectations and scaffold the proper way to question, predict, and infer about the book.

😂😂😂 This actually happened to me and my boyfriend several times. Now he always just goes straight to the graphic novel section, picks something to read and I know where to find him later.

Lost and Found by Oliver Jeffers. Genre: F, Awards: Nestlé smarties book prize gold award, Blue Peter book of the year, TS: RA, S, PR. This book would make a great storytelling because it has the basic formation of a story, starting with “Once upon a Time,” and because of its organization. This book is about a boy and a penguin and the boys quest to find the penguins home. #UCFLAE3414SP18

Jeffersleighann EL 9. Teach note-taking strategies: T- lists, time lines, etc. This is helpful for keeping track of what is going on in the book. UDL 3.1: Activate or supply background knowledge (some topics like the South Pole students might not know). Https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/lost-and-found-unit-6142711 6y

#ucflae3414f17 Lost and Found by Oliver Jeffers tells a heartwarming story of a boy who tried to help a lost penguin find his home, only to realize that the penguin wasn't lost, he was simply lonely and wanted a friend. This F book was even made into a short film adaption, and I believe that reading the story and then watching the film would be a fun activity for students. The UDL strategy I would use is 2.5; illustrate through multiple media.

Juliemorell The ESOL strategy I would use is #17; provide contextual support through audio visuals, models demonstrations, realia, body language and facial expressions. http://www.teachingideas.co.uk/library/books/lost-and-found This link provides ideas for teaching this book in multiple subject areas aside from just literature including: geography, science, music, etc. The link also includes a trailer for the short film adaption. Juliemorell I would use this story for a S, but it could also be used as an IR 6y

A boy meets a lost penguin #alonglongwayfromhome. He decides to take him home and they set off in a rowboat for the South Pole. It's a sweet story about perseverance, friendship, and figuring out what 'home' means.

"A childhood without books - that would be no childhood. That would be like being shut out from the enchanted place where you can go find the rarest kind of Joy." - Astrid Lindgren
Okay this is not about Lost and Found...which is one of my favorite Oliver Jeffers's books, but about his new book A Child of Books which comes out September 6th! Can't wait. #NYTimes review of his book was great. Loved the artwork.
