9 posts | 8 read | 1 to read
Two people living in a world connected by an immense and mysterious library must fight for those they love in the second book in a new trilogy from the international bestselling author of The Book That Wouldnt Burn. The Library spans worlds and times. It touches and joins distant places. It is memory and future. And amid its vastness Evar Eventari both found, and lost, Livira Page. Evar has been forced to flee the library, driven before an implacable foe. Livira, trapped in a ghost world, has to recover the book she wroteone which is the only true threat to the librarys existenceif she's to return to her life. While Evar's journey leads him outside into a world he's never seen, Livira's path will taker her deep inside her own writing, where she must wrestle with her stories in order to reclaim the volume in which they were written. The secret war that defines the library has chosen its champions and set them on the board. The time has come when they must fight for what they believe, or lose everything.

Even more wondrously complicated than the first in his Library trilogy, Lawrence‘s latest is a great read. Evar Eventari and Livira Page belong to two different species, but the love they found in the first book, brings them together again. The murderous rage and bigotry that has doomed so many through the ages continues. Is purity of thought better than compromise and questioning? I hope the answers will arrive in the next book, but perhaps not.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I didn‘t think that there would be more time loops that I didn‘t see coming, but I was wrong. The multiple timelines, evolving conflict with its factions, and mounting tension makes this book a quicker read than its predecessor. Clovis‘ character arc was superb in this book, however I‘m still mad that Livira and Evar were separated yet again five seconds after reuniting at the very end of the book *makes angry eyes at Mark Lawrence*.

Between a Pan and a So-So. The first book left me excited and curious about the next volume. But... it turned out be too slow, more focused on world-building, with nothing really happening. There are some twists, but all in all the story just didn't interest me at all. At the end I was skimming and hoping for the book to be finished soon. But as I know myself, I'm also going to read volume three. It might be better, right?

Yes! This is exactly what every fantasy book that is part of a series should have in the beginning! Now I don't have to worry about going back and rereading the first book again! Who else wishes more fantasy books had this? 🥰📚💕

After finding the first book a 4, this was a 5 for me. I just thought it explored such interesting themes. Ironically I think for a lot of ppl who thought book 1 was a 5, will find this a 4 because we spend less time with the main MC's. I understand how this would disappoint some people. I just felt like this was a book that engaged my adult brain fully which is what I had been craving in the previous book. A quality series so far.

TrishB Just got this week- so I‘m ready to read both now 😁 8mo
