Winner of the Caldecott Medal.Lachie MacLachlan, the generous hero of this enchanting tale, is the exception to the rule that the Scots are a thrifty lot. In his "wee house in the heather," where he lives with his family of twelve, he welcomes to his hearth every weary traveler who passes by on a stormy night. "There's always room for one more," says Lachie, and how his grateful guests say a wonderful "Thank you" provides a delightfully warm and tender ending to this hilarious tale of kindness.Always Room for One More is the winner of the 1966 Caldecott Medal.

So I don‘t know anything about Scotland so this was a tougher read for me… interesting though.

Last tie - tied for number 7 and 8, vote to let me know which one to read first for August #MakeMeReadIt. These two books are tied at only two votes each!

Theshadedbuffalo I bawled with Promise Me Dad, I loved his story. 6y
Prairiegirl_reading I haven‘t read either but I would vote for Promise Me Dad. 6y

I have made huge progress in only reading books that I own this year. However, I've also bought a lot of books. I'm running out of room in my tiny office!

Kosugi That's nothing ;) @Ange44 and I's stacks are ridiculous! 8y
Josie @Kosugi well, I wouldn't call it nothing. Like I said, tiny office. 8y
BekahB I keep telling myself that I'm going to stop buying books and only read what I already own. That promise to myself usually lasts about a week before I give in to temptation. 8y

Simona I agree with you that this is a huge progress 👏👏👏 8y
GoldenGirl Good job! I promised my husband I wouldn't buy anymore books until I've read all I have....but it's so hard! 8y
LauraBrook Seriously, major envy for your progress this year! I'm doing a year-long read my own damn books challenge, but I keep stopping at the library and checking things out. And starting 7 books, getting nowhere in any of them. And the book shopping. Oh my god, the book shopping!!!!! So, so, so bad and out of control and great and happy-making and bad. Will try to channel your great progress the next time I'm online shopping. 🙏🏼 8y
JulAnna Good for you! I have often thought that I should do that for a year, but. . . New books! 😌 8y
Sassy_Steph I started off my year with this resolution as well, but I keep gettingARCs, plus come on are we just supposed to ignore all the new books that are coming out? At least I have kept my promise not to buy more books!! (edited) 8y
Gayan You know all my deep, dark, book buying secrets. 😉 8y
Suet624 I'm so impressed with your persistence. 8y
Kosugi @Josie Fair enough. :) 8y
