pick#ReadAway2024 #SeriesLove2024 This is the seventh book in the Dexter series, and it‘s getting a little stale, and maybe Dexter is getting too long-winded. I don‘t think there‘s as much black humor as in previous books and I missed that. The humor was my favorite part of the series. But I‘m still giving this a pick because some momentous things happened. And it‘s also a huge cliffhanger leading into the final book.
I‘m listening to the seventh and next to last book in the Dexter series. “The Princess Bride” reference was amusing and appreciated. I was quite surprised because I have a tough time imagining Dexter watching such a sweet movie.
pick7-27-22: My 72nd finished book of 2022! Book 7 in the series. In this one we find Dexter and his cop sister, Deborah, assigned to help some famous actors learn all about murder investigations and forensic science so they can film a new pilot. The murders they are following are a psychotic serial killer murdering girls with blond hair heinously. Dexter is assigned to Jackie Forrest and his life is changed drastically. One more book to go!
Time to head back into the world of dexter for the last 2 books now! Hopefully i can be finished with the series by the end of the year

I didn't love this... To be fair to the book, I really shouldn't have read most of the series then paused for several years before reading the last book. But that's what ended up happening, so I had trouble engaging with the book. Ah well. Feels great to have finally finished the series though!

panLike the later seasons of the TV show based on these, it just feels like I'm reading this out of obligation. However, I quit the show midway through season 7.
As a character, Dexter, keeps getting further from his starting point. He's become a guy who stumbles into situations rather than being the merciless serial killer killing serial killer he started as.
Predictable, little entertainment, & a cliffhanger finish. Only one more to go at least.
