Partials
Partials | Dan Wells
For fans of The Hunger Games, Battlestar Galactica, and Blade Runner comes the first book in the Partials Sequence, a fast-paced, action-packed, and riveting sci-fi teen series, by acclaimed author Dan Wells. Humanity is all but extinguished after a war with Partialsengineered organic beings identical to humanshas decimated the population. Reduced to only tens of thousands by a weaponized virus to which only a fraction of humanity is immune, the survivors in North America have huddled together on Long Island. But sixteen-year-old Kira is determined to find a solution. As she tries desperately to save what is left of her race, she discovers that that the survival of both humans and Partials rests in her attempts to answer questions about the war's origin that she never knew to ask.Playing on our curiosity of and fascination with the complete collapse of civilization, Partials is, at its heart, a story of survival, one that explores the individual narratives and complex relationships of those left behind, both humans and Partials alikeand of the way in which the concept of what is right and wrong in this world is greatly dependent on one's own point of view. Finished on a rainy vacation day. An enjoyable YA dystopia. I would have read this really differently a few years ago before COVID; as it is, I was skeptical at first of how the virus/immunity worked, but it eventually became clear that it‘s not a normal virus, maybe not really a virus at all. The main character is relatable and it‘s very exciting with lots of fights and twists.

This was my #doublespin sometime recently, maybe April?

🎧 This book gripped me. Edge of my seat. Couldn‘t put it down. A bit YA but loved it. Plague? Genetics? Dystopian? End of world? My kind of book!

In the future we genetically create a non-human but very human looking super soldier called Partials then treat them poorly during peacetime. Uprising!

Now, 11 years after the Partial War the last 60K remaining humans live on Long Island & the 1M surviving partials have disappeared.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️7/8👇🏻

Twainy The Senate rules the humans. The Hope Act forces pregnancy on all women over 18 (soon 2B 16). No babies have survived longer than 42 hours in 11 years since the RM virus was released by the partials killing 99.99% of humanity. Humans are politically divided & an uprise is looming.

Who will save the future of humanity? It took me a minute to get into & is YA but easy in the annoying tropes. good narration! Improbable but fun!

Find the trust.

LibrarianRyan This has been sitting on my shelf for years, I really need to get it read. 4y
Twainy @LibrarianRyan It‘s a quick read. I like dystopian & pandemic & zombie & gene altering & robots/AI ... etc and this scratched a lot of those itches 😁 on top of being a good narration. It‘s definitely YA so beware if you‘re not a YA fan. 4y
LibrarianRyan @Twainy YA is not a problem for me. 😁 4y

Underrated YA Dystopia. In the year 2076, the human population is on the brink of extinction. Newborns die within days of being born and the government's solution is to lower the age requirement to have babies with the hope that someone will give birth to a baby that is immune. Kira, a 16 year old medic interning at the hospital, thinks that the cure lies in studying Partials, cyborgs believed to be responsible for the virus outbreak.

sprainedbrain I loved this series! Underrated for sure. 6y

Small book random haul from yesterday. I got Partials as well as a signed copy of And I Darken at half price books. Chicken Soup for the Soul: What I learned from the dog was a random find at goodwill

This book gave me hope in the dystopian genre. After it being so overwhelmed with shitty books, this world really sucked me in. I really enjoyed it. #partials #danwells

Set in post apocalyptic wrld where babies dont survive more than couple days due to a virus.
Humanity has been decimated due to genetically enigineered humans called Partials. Survivors are warring with a grp called the Voice.
Short book, easy read. Aimed at teen/YA. Enjoyed, but wasn't enough to keep me on my toes. Could easily put down & come back to it, interesting enough that I would consider reading book 2.

Have just started reading Partials for my book club. Genre is dystopian, set in a world where babies don't survive more than a couple of days after birth because of a virus. Story starts well, lets hope it continues well.

Started this #audiobook yesterday while going for a short run and continued listening this morning on my way to work. It's been some time since I've read a #YA #dystopian. I'm five chapters in and like it so far. #audible #teenbooks #youngadult

Jennifermeaton Ooooooo I just added it on audiobook, too. Will get to it after Dorothy Must Die ☺️ 8y

I'm a huge lover of science so when I heard about this book I just had to give it a try, as someone who wants to have children soon thinking about a world where you can have children makes me sick. Also mixing it with androids! Gold!!!

I really enjoyed this book. The main character was easy to like, as was Samm. A nice twist, and a story with great potential to develop.
