Thank you @Cupcake12 for creating #WhereAreYouMonday.

I am on the Island of Masquapaug in a reimagined world based on a what-if history 🌍🥚🌎🐉🌏.

Love it when fantasy books include maps 🆒🗺️🤩💝.

This one felt more like an introduction than being a full story on its own but I‘m interested to know more.

One of the picks for April‘s #bookspin #doublespin

Read for Lore during Orilium in April.

Audio. This was an interesting story. Given in context of the time it was written, Nazi‘s and fascism was on the rise and Americans weren‘t quite aware of it.
The premise of the story is promising, where the execution didn‘t come through. Didn‘t keep my attention. Story was difficult to keep with; so many characters and disjointed side scenes. The number of times the characters stated, “but it can‘t happen here”, was crazy. That carried the book.

This has taken me forever to read because I'm still having issues with my eyes. But well worth the effort. Dodos! Ridiculous puns. Books and libraries and plots and all of it.

I really enjoyed this and I'm sad the next installment isn't out yet. Very girl goes to magic school with dragons but done in an interesting way. Excellent take on fighting colonialism.

Philip of France & Richard the Lionheart discover a mutual spark of attraction @ the same time Phillip is establishing his reign & Richard is dealing w/ a controlling father & an imprisoned mother.

Interesting characters & good scene setting, but 2 problems for me. I wasn‘t invested in the romance, & I‘m not usually into books that reimagine established historical figures so much. W/ a different background, I would have liked it better.🌕🌕🌑🌑🌑

Kenyazero Sounds like a disappointing jaunt into a less-visited genre! 🫤 6d

We saw the movie Sinners on Saturday, and I can't stop thinking about it! A superb film.
I could help but think of Ring Shout, which has a very similar vibe, as well as Bitter Root and The Ballad of Black Tom. I've also heard others compare it to The Reformatory and Blackheart Man.
But, if you are in the mood for a bloody vampire tale with amazing music, brilliant acting, and a stellar story, even before the vampires, go see Sinners!

AmyG I look forward to this movie…it‘s getting such great reviews. 1w
ChaoticMissAdventures I saw it opening night and I am the same, cannot stop thinking about it. Totally brilliant. There are so many layers from the passing of Mary, the Irish, turning into the bad guys (but still understanding the plight of the Black American) the Asian elements. There is just countless things to tear apart and analyze Ryan Coogler is brilliant. 1w

After a pre-Christmas trip to London, staying with her sister, and Christmas itself, Sophronia and friends return to the school for the New Year Tea only to find that it has been infiltrated by Picklemen.

A satisfactory wrap-up to the series with quite a few surprises on the way.

I expected to enjoy this book, but I actually found myself having to force myself to pick it up and continue. It all felt a bit too preachy. Shriver is, as far as I‘m aware, a hugely respected writer, so I‘m not sure if she‘s just not my thing or if this is not her usual standard. I think I need to read We Need to Talk About Kevin.

Octoberwoman I loved We Need to Talk About Kevin, which was absolutely harrowing, and then I read Big Brother, which wasn‘t nearly as good. I haven‘t convinced myself to try the author again since then. 2w
