2/5 Not a fan of this one... I preferred the second one of the series.
While I still like that type of storytelling mixing art and prose, the plot didn't work for me here. Too many things suggested, not enough world building.

I‘m trying to read this very slowly because I‘m sad it‘s all about to end and I absolutely love Alexia. I want more of her and her companions, not her daughter (though she is hysterical as a toddler). 😢🐺🧛🏻‍♂️☂️
I caught myself laughing out loud twice during lunch at my desk.

Larkken Alexia is more fun than her daughter for sure! Have you read the series that precedes this one? I love it too 1d

Really enjoying this series on audio. In this one, the MCs end up in Scotland, & we have more machinery (steampunk vibes), werewolf politics, & background about the male MC. Loved this one. Big twist at the end which is spoiled immediately if you read the summary for the 3rd book before reading this one.

Underground Railroad | Colson Whitehead

Following the 1st-hand account of Cora's journey on the legendary Underground Railroad is a very emotional story; I, the reader share her intensity of close calls, heartbreaking blindsides and setbacks, meaningful reflections, and reviving next steps along the way.

Hawk Song, first book in the Kiesha'ra series.

Been years. I read this series as a teenager/young adult.

Deals with racism from the POV of a diverse world of shapeshifters.

If you read and liked, “Bride“ by Ali Hazelwood, you may like this series. (I will re-review the Bride book in a future post for this group).

The Half King was a huge surprise. It deals heavily with women discrimination.

There are some readers warnings. I almost didn't continue after the opening scene. Please read my previous review if you are a sensitive reader.

I'm glad I did continue, because this was a book with a powerful message.

The Spell Shop is a cozy read. The main focus of the storyline takes us away from the political drama of this world, instead we feel the struggles of the people who have lived under oppression...then see the first impact from a reforming government.

Murtagh was the first book I read from this series. It was incredible...and emotionally difficult.

There are some readers warnings. I had to skip past a few connecting scenes. Please read my previous review if you are a sensitive reader.

Murtagh and his Dragon Thorn survived and escaped an abusive King, who had kept them in compelled service (for years) by magic.

AnnCrystal This story shows their healing journey as they nearly fall victim to another oppressive Queen.

Every time I write Haiku, the similarities to Murtagh-Man's writings makes me smile.

The neighborhood pool is quiet so far this morning.
It‘s not too hot yet, I‘m in the shade, I have my knitting, a dunkalatte, and a book.
Perfect morning.

Scochrane26 I‘m listening to series now, but I‘m only on the 2nd book. 1w
MaleficentBookDragon @Scochrane26 I love this series. I‘ve been putting off reading this one because then it will be over.😢 1w

Went by the used bookstore today and traded in quite a few to get these beauties (+2 for my kid not pictured) more or less half off. Whee! I love these old sff covers so much. And what a gorgeous edition of The Ladies of Grace Adieu. Illustrations by Charles Vess in that one.

Armistice: The Hot War | Harry Turtledove

Pickpick

62/100 The final book in The Hoy War trilogy. It seemed a bit longer than necessary, the armistice between the US and the USSR come about in the middle of the book, then the rest is the aftermath of the war, which seemed to be an excuse to kill off a couple of characters who had barely survived the war. The frustrating thing was events pretty much went back to status quo afterwards, Russia still dominated eastern Europe and Korea was still

RamsFan1963 divided between Communist North and Democratic South. I wish the author had chosen to swing history further from the one we know in our world. 3.5/5 ⭐ #Read2025 #SeriesLove2025 2w

Book #9 of 2025: “The Scourge of God” by SM Stirling. I was reallly into this series when I was younger but got behind during/post college. I picked this up at a used bookstore in Florence over the winter and loved it. Time to get the rest of the series!
