Pickpick

This was an amazing read.

I had always enjoyed, during my Dragon obsession years, watching dragons. This is my first book with a deeply dragon infused storyline and I absolutely loved it.

Thorn had me smitten🐉💖, and this world is incredible!

This is a quest story. Murtagh, half-brother of Eragon, follows a path of clues that lead him to a witch who he must outwit.

👇

AnnCrystal Yet it is also a journey of healing. Murtagh's and Thorn's connection is beautiful. The traumas they experienced in their past is tragic, and their individual healing journeys are sweet.

I've never read the the Eragon books, and I was worried about being able to understand the characters and overall story. This was wonderful because it gave the info needed to be able to read as a standalone. It does hint at more books.

AnnCrystal I will certainly never imagine a mushroom forest quite the same way again 😂🍄💝.

The image is a positively sweet message from the author.

This was not 705 pages (I read about 601 pages). There's some back content before the bonus content of this deluxe edition. About 14 pages plus 90 pages I skipped (after Murtagh gets Thorn and himself captured by the witch). This is, therefore, more of a Bitsy Chunster than a Chuckster Patite for #ChunksterChallenge2025

AnnCrystal Book Warnings ⚠️📚👇.

6d
AnnCrystal Murtagh and Thorn have healing to do and we are shown, in small flashbacks, why. They both suffer from PTSD.

Childhood abuse and trauma.

Animal abuse.

Magically forced to serve a tyrant king. Slavery.

Imprisonment. Torture. Mental torture.

My current reads...

I've finished Murtagh, which I will review this weekend.

Just realized the book, To Shape A Dragon's Breath is 511 pages...a BitsyChunkster! It's the first book in its series.

The long awaited (for me to purchase) Bless Me, Ultima. A standalone novel.

The Third Book in the Riley Thorn mysteries.

The Sixth Book in the Old Kingdom series.

TheSpineView Lookin' good!📚📚📚 1w

Last night, made it to page 20 of 705 pages...the beginnings of an epic 🥳🐉📚💝.

It's early, yet loving this. Like how Murtagh can communicate with his dragon.

Chunkster Tip

If reading a Chunkster before bed, try not to doze off...705 pages wrapped in hardcover becomes mighty hazardous when it smashes onto your face 😂📚💝.

Amiable I just laughed out loud —been there, had the nose bruise to show for it! 😄 3mo
AnnCrystal @Amiable Oh no! Made me laugh out loud that I'm surprised I didn't wake the household 😂...lucky a bruise hasn't formed 🤞😉👍📚💝. 3mo

DogMomIrene 😂😂😂 I stopped reading all physical books before bed because I was knocking them everywhere. It‘s e-books only now. Thanks for making me laugh. 3mo
AnnCrystal @DogMomIrene👏😂...good switch 😉👍...I would probably do the same if I could get my eyes to like screens, they seem to tear at my eyes if I focus for too long. There is also something magical that I find in the old fashioned book 📚💝. 3mo

2025 Litsy book Challenges I've joined 📚🥳.

Thank you @TheSpineView &
@Andrew65 and @Amiable for hosting these Challenges 📚💝📚.

👇

AnnCrystal For SeriesLove2025, I'm excited to continue the RileyThorn Mysteries along with a seemingly endless-list of other series (some on my bookshelf, some not) that would likely take me until 2035 to complete 😂...🤔📚🥳.

AnnCrystal The tagged works for either challenge, since Murtagh is book five (?) in a series. It is the only book I have in this series, yet I've read that it can be a standalone...hope.

Been really excited to begin this read, yet I just recently realized how many pages...705! I was considering stashing this with some other big books to read another time when I saw the #ChunksterChallenge! Seemed like a “read now“ sign 😂.

AnnCrystal I will begin this challenge with Murtagh, and continue with a new Chunkster once I've finished...one Chunkster at a time 😂📚💝.

Amiable One chunkster at a time is a fabulous strategy! 👍🏼👍🏼 4mo
AnnCrystal @Amiable too excited 💕📚🥳💝. 4mo
Amiable @AnnCrystal The secret with chunksters is to just keep reading. Even if it‘s only few pages at a time. It‘s the forward momentum that propels you to the finish. I find that if I don‘t pick it up every day, it‘s easier to not pick it up at all. 4mo
TheSpineView So glad to have you! 4mo
AnnCrystal Thank You @Amiable, that is absolutely true 👏📚📖💖. 4mo

Thank you @TheSpineView for creating this fun play-card & for the tag 🥳🎊🐎💝.

1- was considering rereading the Old Kingdom Books by Garth Nix this year, still need the latest book. 😉📚💝.

2- once I've finished with my current reads:

I am most excited to begin: Murtagh by Christopher Paolini, The Half King by Melissa Landers, and continuing the Riley Thorn Mysteries by Lucy Score.

👇

AnnCrystal
Excited about these 2025 book releases: the next book in the Riley Thorn Mysteries by Lucy Score, Arkana by RuNyx, and the The Enchanted Greenhouse by Sarah Beth Durst.

Can't Spell Treason Without Tea by Rebecca Thorne reignited my love for Dragons 🐲💝.

Except, I can't find any dragons among my books! I must have them packed in storage where books (both read and unread) from my younger years have been stashed away.

Although 🤔, my dragon obsession from years ago may have been focused on movie dragons. Less for the dragons and more for the gorgeous men (knights) who were usually cast in such movies 😍😂.

👇

AnnCrystal Anyways...👀

In mid-October, went looking for the Batman Resurrection book by John Jackson Miller. Didn't find, yet I did find this beauty.

I believe this is book 3 in a series?? I don't believe I've read/watched the first books/movies 📚🎬🤔, yet this seems a promising standalone?

This book is Beautiful! Dragons 📚🐲😍💝.

I have books ready for November and early December, therefore this will have to wait until after Christmas...☺️💝.
