2.5 ⭐Apparently this graphic novel is based on a movie. I have not seen the movie. The artwork in this book is lovely. However, the story is at times hard to follow. I think so much has been cut from the movie to make the book fit within a certain set of page numbers. Parts of the story are confusing, and it feels like we‘re missing pieces. Overall, the book is beautiful, but it was not as satisfying read.
I don't usually go for Disney things, and I know the story is twisted in their special way but this is a beautiful edition 😍
I found this copy of a folding (left to right) scroll book of the legend of Mulan while looking for poetry books for my niece 😍
We were watching A Pink Christmas yesterday morning and I forgot all about “Swifty‘s Messenger Service” 😂 🎁 #holidaybookdragons #wintergames2024
This picture book is absolutely gorgeous and such a delight to read. I learned a lot about Lotte Reiniger's work (since I have not gotten around to reading books about her) and had fun looking up some of the animations described in this book. Definitely a lot of work and care went into this and if you're interested in women's history or animation and film history, this might be a fun little treat for you too.
Happy Second Day of Day Of The Dead to those who celebrate. Hope these two days have been peaceful and sweet.

It was pretty cool learning about the women of Disney Studios history. They had to put up with a lot in order to follow their career dreams. I also really enjoyed learning the history of many of the films these women worked on, and learning a bit of cinima history along the way. From Kubo and the Two Strings. While this scene is pretty calm, Kubo and his crew face some pretty horrific adversaries.
