I went vegan seven years ago on Thanksgiving, in large part due to this book. I'm grateful for change makers who speak for those who cannot, and for the ability to live a compassionate life in a time when vegan options are becoming more readily available.

not really a self-help book, more like a friend giving you advice and maybe a "kick in the pants." i find myself going back to it when i need encouragement or motivation. very no-nonsense :) chapter headings include "how to not live happily ever after...how to be thin...how to be fat…how to fail." good stuff! #LitsyRiotLive #BooksToLiveBy

This one.... this is very much a 'lest we forget' type of book. Everyone should read it. Everyone should be aware of how quickly your rights can be taken away, how quickly your entire life can change... and how the human spirit just never ever stops fighting. #litsyriotlive #bookstoliveby

This book gets me through so much stuff. It taught me about more than I can say- humility, female friendships, finding light in times of darkness. I've read it and I've listened to it and I'll definitely read it again. "Good for you, not for me" has become a motto that I live by. #litsyriotlive #bookstoliveby

I feel like a broken record, but Kurt Vonnegut is the author of my #BooksToLiveBy. I feel so lucky to have discovered his work, as it has sharpened the way I look at the world. He is my kindred spirit! #litsyriotlive @Litsy

britt_brooke Completely agree with you. I only wish I had started reading him at a younger age. Seriously would've helped me figure out some things about myself. Didn't read my first until I was 30. 😭 But I'm working on catching up. 8y

Books that have influenced me. #LitsyRiotLive #bookstoliveby

Rachael_reads I've read two out of three of these. I haven't read How Yoga Works, however I do practice yoga. What do you think of this book? Is it an easy read? I typically don't read nonfiction. 8y
Amandajoy @Rachael_reads I loved How Yoga Works. I read it as part of my yoga teacher training, we had a book club with it. It's about the sutras but explains them through a story. If you practice yoga & are at all curious about the philosophy behind it, I highly recommend it! 8y

Two more recent #bookstoliveby, one nonfiction and one fiction. So You've Been Publicly Shamed is a reminder to treat everyone a little more kindly, particularly in the anonymity of the Internet. The Fisherman because of its beauty and the reminder to not get swept up in someone else's sensationalism. #litsyriotlive #brlive

There are some books I grew up with, the ones I come back to when I need comfort and an escape from harsh reality. Their words will always be with me no matter where I go. ❤️📚 #bookstoliveby #litsyriotlive

TheLondonBookworm Classics! You clearly had great taste as a child reader 😅 8y
pppooraikul @TheLondonBookworm Lol. Thanks! That's because my family kinda guided me through all the bookshelves in my earlier years. ☺️ But I'm proud to say I have a knack of picking would-be-famous books. ;) 8y
moranadatter Such great books! What's the book on the top right about? 8y

pppooraikul @kmdartist Glad you asked! 😁 It's based on Merlin and Arthurian legend, mostly Geoffrey of Monmount version. What if when Merlin was baptised shortly after birth, his Light and Dark sides were separated? The Dark element became Merlin's brother, Myron. That's the name of the book. Myron played an important part of the Arthurian Legends but not the way Merlin did. And he struggled through out the book to prove that Dark doesn't equal evil. 8y
pppooraikul @kmdartist Darkness is itself, the same way Light is light. And while Merlin did great things to serve Britain, Myron cared about each person as an individual. The book raised the question of what goodness truly is. And the writing (only in Thai, unfortunately) was the most beautiful I've ever read. (And I read quite a lot of Thai literature!) 8y
moranadatter That sounds amazing! I wish I could read Thai. 8y
pppooraikul @kmdartist I wish so too! I'd love to translate it if my English was strong enough. 😅 8y
pppooraikul @kmdartist May I try translating the synopsis? Will you bear with me? 😂 8y
tpixie Yes do!! Sounds like a wonderful story!!! 8y
