This is my first Lane Winslow mystery and I really quite enjoyed it. Set in post-WW2 Canada, the characters are quite delightful, as was the mystery. Cozy but not twee. Will definitely be reading more from this series!

My #CastTheDie picks. It is somewhat of a mix-mash of a list but I feel it has a lot of magical realism in it. I couldn't decide on a lucky book, so I rolled some dice, lol. It came up with lucky number 13 - so, Son of a Trickster will be my lucky book for this list!

Lane Winslow, ex WWII intelligence officer, is swept up in a murder investigation again, this time because of her Russian language skills.
I love the characters of these stories, and the beautiful setting of British Columbia.

Under The Bridge, now a series on Hulu, is a must read for any true crime fan. I had never heard of this case prior to the book and series, and once I read the book, I was completely wrapped up in it. The tragedy of it, the warped mentality that caused it, along with the effects on the families and the community as a whole makes for a true story like no other. I found the in depth research and interviews extremely compelling.
This bookstore crawl was such an incredible event for Indianapolis! In four days I visited 19 of the participating 23 independent stores. It was an absolute delight! I met up with friends and took my kids to some throughout the crawl. We talked with other participants and owners of the stores, and everyone was blown away by the response from the community. Such an incredible weekend! It filled my heart to see how our city supported this event!
I stopped in at Toys R Us today and was delighted to find they‘ve expanded their books selection to include lots of material for older teenagers and adults! Some of the genre divisions don‘t make sense (for example, there‘s a weird amount of non-romance on the romance shelf), but whoever their purchaser is brought a lot of diverse books into the fold alongside the uber-popular stuff like Brandon Sanderson and Sarah J. Maas.
This is quite an interesting book. It‘s non-fiction and was written by a man who traveled to the area in British Columbia known as the Great Bear Rainforest. He went there to talk to people who have seen Sasquatch, hoping, of course, to see one himself. But the book is about more than that, it‘s also a glimpse into the lives of the First Nation tribes who live there. Wonderful writing.
