Here's my tentative TBR for #MiddlegradeMarch @sblbooks
Mark Oshiro, Ashley Herring Blake, and A. Deborah Baker (aka Seanan McGuire) have written some of my favorite adult books so I'm excited to read their middle grade work. Tamora Pierce was one of my favorite authors when I was actually in middle school so looking forward to trying a series of hers I haven't read. Plus a few others I've been meaning to read
Ah, middle school. You couldn‘t pay me to go back. I do find it funny that in seventh grade I coveted the glasses another girl had, while Rex is doing everything in his power to avoid his. 😂
After someone calls him fat in forth grade, Will spirals. He loses friends, isolates and loathes himself and experiences disordered eating. This book is intense. It could definitely trigger people with eating disorders while it could also help others realize they are not alone. Would I recommend it? I am honestly not sure.
Nobody swung until Mean Jean swung.Nobody kicked until Mean Jean kicked.Nobody bounced until Mean Jean bounced.
The pictures that the illustrator used really emphasize that mean jean is a bully they make her look unfriendly.
This book is a good book, where mean jean takes over! The author uses punctuation and font sizing to really add effect into this book. The theme of standing up for others in this book is super important because all children need to know how to.
Another cute graphic novel. I hope she makes more in the series. #scarathlon #blackcatcrew @BookwormAHN

This graphic novel includes important themes such as facing your fears and being vulnerable. Older students who feel like they don't fit in at school might especially enjoy this book. Graphica itself is a good choice for students who lack motivation for reading as the media may get them excited to read.
