Fiction: *Character Focus*: What choices has the character made thus far? Do you agree with their decision? Why or why not?
The character has made some decisions where he doesn't know what to do. He gets a check and doesn't know what to do with it, so he blows it on stuff the school dance comity doesn't need. I don't agree with what he did with the money, but he was getting persuaded to use it in a bad way.
Fiction. This story would change as the kids wouldn't be doing as much things that they did. If it was in earlier times, there would be no parties or checks. Also, more people would be like Cap and living on a farm for the entirety of their life. The characters would change, the plot would change and how they act would change.
pickI read this because my middle-schooler was reading it for class, and I thought it‘d be fun to talk about. I had a lot of thoughts, too many to share here. So, in brief: the adults all seemed clueless and were annoying. I was too judgy at mrs Donnelly for allowing Sophie to behave that way. You‘re in a cult, call your dad. If you don‘t have a dad, hope your grandma falls out of a tree so you can get some help. Hear comes the sun..dooduh doo doo...

My classroom library is pretty much ready. Bring it.
Last year our librarian began printing covers for what we are currently reading. I saw an idea on FB and decided to use last years to create a book display. The cards (sometimes clunkily) list ways the book may help them expand their empathy. I‘ll continue switching them out.
The look Anya gave me when I told her I was too tired to throw the ball. I've been in a serious reading slump since classes resumed. I've started and stopped several books. The books are good, but I'm too distracted and tired. Any recommendations for quick, fun reads to break the slump?
pickTalk about a straight up fun (fast) read. I really enjoyed Schooled. Capricorn Anderson, Cap to friends & foes alike, lives on a commune where he is homeschooled by his grandmother Rain. After a freak accident he is forced to move into town & go to school. Cap has a lot to learn & when he is elected class president things might go really wrong or, just maybe, really, really right. Turns out everyone, not just Cap, has something to learn.
I don't want to go back to school. I had an extended break and now it's time to go back starting on the 17th. Man I really don't want to.
pickMy freshman and fourth grader and I each give this 5/5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. It has laugh out loud moments and times I nearly cried. There was a moment my fourth grader did not want to hear anymore, and literally made me skip the rest of the paragraph - he was so frustrated with a character. Superb way to spend the bulk of today's #readathon with my kids. #booknerdbliss #BedtimeBookClub
Taking a little break from reading this out loud with the kids. Having a great #readathon so far with fun food, participating in a few of the challenges, and laughing together as we read. My son said we should do this every Saturday. #booknerdbliss 😃📚♥️
