A really solid book! Overall this book really forces you to evaluate your thought process and why you believe what you believe.
The authors focus on a few narrow topics that are pretty controversial and spark highly emotional responses. But their principles apply to pretty much every area of life. Are you convinced of a mindset based off heuristics or based off quantitative data? Be aware of the why behind your life choices

The true victims of conspiracy theories are those that suffer from the lack of benefits from the very thing that could save them but is demonized by those that are choosing to ignore the factual evidence.

"The main focus of this book is not to argue back and forth about vaccinations, GMOs, or nuclear power but rather to present a framework to understand why people deny scientific evidence and how this situation can be improved."

"What then causes smart people to make decisions and adopt positions that have no factual basis? That is the question with which this book wrestles."

The prose is very academic; almost like a treatise or a manifesto.
Giroux highlighted important neoliberalism and how this toxic market system is disrupting civic responsibility and social democracy.

This is such a powerful and heartbreaking story. The author really does quite a job at making you relate to a teenage girl who throws her baby in the garbage. She makes you sympathetic to a character that normally you would judge and hate just based on principle. This book is extremely graphic and a hard read, but worth it if you can get past the difficult subject matter.

Blueroseis The first ever line dance I learnt when I moved from England to Wales was to the song Blue Rose Is, sung by Pam Tillis. The dance had the same name. It marked a turning point in my life. 5y
