What Is the Super Bowl? | Dina Anastasio
post image

I scheduled my IRL book group meeting for this evening, completely unaware that it was Superbowl Sunday. Yesterday I realized my faux pas and checked in with everyone… there was only one person in the group who had a conflict or cared 😆 So I guess you could say that the above was indeed my Super Bowl party vibe. 🎉📚🎉

Bookwomble 😂❤️📚❤️ 16h
MaGoose Yup, me too. Last month, I even went so far as to cancel TV and just use Wifi from my cable company. I can strem stuff if I want to watch something. 🤣 14h

Tamra I love the alternative Superb Owl I recently read about. 🦉🦉 10h
Ruthiella I wouldn‘t have even known it was Super Bowl Sunday were it not for a couple Litsy posts. This is definitely my vibe. 8h
BarbaraJean @MaGoose We‘ve only had streaming for years! The only time I regret it is for the Olympics, and I discovered last year I could just pay for one month on Peacock and I was set 😆 7h
BarbaraJean @Tamra Hahaha—yes! I am a fan of Superb Owl Sunday! 7h
BarbaraJean @Ruthiella Similar lack of awareness over here—I think it was a grocery ad email that tipped me off this year! 7h

The Hook Up | Kristen Callihan

Panpan

From a distance, The Hook Up looks great: snarky heroine, spunky hero, lots and lots of sex… but I‘m afraid the contents don‘t quite bear up to closer scrutiny. The passionate “banter” is very forced, and the characters are beyond melodramatic. Unfortunately, the spicy bits just weren‘t enough to overcome the cringe (especially with the cheesy ending). Right now, it's Saturday morning in my corner of the world. Why do I keep thinking 🤔 it's Sunday?

Bloody confused 😕 😳🤣

Entertaining slow burn romance featuring a strong and (very) silent man and the woman who got him to talk (a bit). My only complaint is that the 🌶, when it finally happened, was disappointing. But maybe that‘s just me. Thanks to @TheSpineView for putting this one on my radar.

Reggie 500 pages is a long time to get to the 🌶️. It was never gonna live up to the expectations. But I liked the book. lol 2w
CarolynM @Reggie “Disappointing” was probably the wrong word. “A bit icky” would have been better. (edited) 2w

#Read2025 #SeriesLove2025 I‘ve read reviews of Harlan Coben books on Litsy and they‘ve been pretty enthusiastic. So I gave this book a listen and was not disappointed. It was written and takes place in the 1990s, so car phones with cords, pay phones, no cell phones. I got a little early Spenser vibe, mostly because Myron has a running internal dialogue and has a quirky sense of humor. Myron gets beaten up more than Spenser and Win has (cont)⬇️

CatLass007 some similarities to Hawk. They both are killers but Hawk has a personal code that I think Win lacks. I did not see the “whodunnit” ending at all. Recommended. 3w

RamsFan1963 I was a big fan of this series, until the 3rd book, when Myron did something that really pissed me off (no spoilers) and put me off the series for good. 3w
CatLass007 @RamsFan1963 Hmmm. I hate to hear that. Have you read other books by Harlan Coben in which he wrote the “hero” doing questionable things? Thanks for the warning and for not spoiling it. I appreciate that you are allowing me to reach my own conclusions. 3w
RamsFan1963 @CatLass007 What he did might not bother you at all, but it touched something in my personal life, and I couldn't read the series anymore. 3w
CatLass007 @RamsFan1963 I‘m sorry you had that experience. It doesn‘t sound good. 3w

This one is a low pick for me. I liked the characters put the plot was just so off the rails I couldn't get totally invested in the story. I've said this numerous times, I prefer characters and plots are at least plausible, if not, then the writing must be of such quality as to make up for the short comings. 3ish Stars
I doubt I will read the other books in the series. #SeriesLove2025 @Andrew65 #REad2025 @DieAReader #LitsyLoveReads
