Today‘s haiku inspiration is my “field trip” yesterday which I bookended with a visit to the two libraries near my house. Maybe I‘ll post the haul later (although one of the books I bought is pictured). A much needed escape from the world is good for my soul & mental health.

Two library,
indie bookstore kind of day
a balm for the soul.

A not-so-happy 4th, but I'm trying.

Cracked fireworks fall––
but from the ash, voices rise.
Hope is still alive.

There‘s nothing better than a gooey grilled cheese when you‘re sick & have to stay home. When I was a kid, if I had to stay out of school when I was sick, I‘d stay at my Grandma‘s & she‘d make me a grilled cheese while I watched The Price Is Right. (took some liberties with the syllables!) 🧡💛🧡

Never underestimate
the healing powers of a
gooey grilled cheese.

Slept in & I‘m taking a field trip to my favorite bookstore & other spots in a town about 40 min away. Today‘s haiku is inspired by the drive over & looking at the horizon surrounded by water. I occasionally feel a bit lonely being isolated, but honestly, most of the time I like being at least a bit cut off from the additional madness of the world.

isle in quiet blue,
distance softens all the noise
grateful for the peace

Much needed rain last night + nature's fireworks = Heat respite.

Lightning, thunder, pouring rain––
Nature with a 'tude.
