There was silence before Myrna spoke again. “Fucking Ruth.“
It struck Gamache that maybe that was Ruth's real name. It was certainly her given name. He considered the christening.
“What do you name this child?“ the minister asked.
“Fucking Ruth,“ her godparents replied. It would have been a prescient choice.

And we're back! I suspect Penny saw all the “the monks are so boring, I want Twin Pines!“ comments and decided to give the people what they want. 😂 This is an action movie of a book, with tremendously high stakes, both personal and global. The Twin Pines characters provide a moral center and much needed comic relief. I'm not convinced the author wasn't messing with us, but it was a great pageturner and tearjerker of a read, so I don't care. 😂

My next audiobook. Fifth in the series. #serieslove @TheSpineView @Andrew65

The 4th book in the Gamach series, this is a contemplative, character-driven mystery set in a remote Québec inn, where Chief Inspector Gamache is drawn into a complex family drama turned murder investigation. The novel excels in atmosphere, elegant prose, and deep character exploration, particularly in its portrayal of Gamache and the complex dynamics of the Finney family, whose dysfunction is central to the plot and the murder of one of its own.

4th book in the series ... I love Three Pines and all the people who live there. 🌲🌲🌲
My husband not only left our nice warm bed to make me breakfast, he did so when he was just at the part where Gamache explains the murder. Greater love hath no man!

Whyyyyy did it take me so long to read this? I blame the holiday blues. I‘ll admit that I got a little angry at the ending, because it felt unfinished and just not “right” somehow. Then I realized that Louise just threw a cliffhanger in there 😂 I‘m so confused 😂 #readyourkindle

#10 in the Chief Inspector Gamache series had me laughing like the others but also crying hard. Crying hard over a duck at that (#iykyk)! The main plot would have seemed inconceivable to me 10 years ago. However, after seeing blatant corruption in the highest levels of our government embraced in the real world, it feels sadly plausible. Another great read by Penny—entertainment with heart that makes you think. 👩🍳💋
