I read the first in this series years ago, and though I enjoyed it, for some reason I never got around to continuing the series. I stumbled across this second in the series when looking for a book for the #SomeplaceHot #FictionalTraveler prompt, and I‘m glad I did. This is delightful, gentle storytelling.

Probably overreaching, but I am on track with several of the buddyreads. I go back to work 8/24 which obviously will hugely impact my reading time.

Okay, #FictionalTraveler friends, what sizzling locale will you be visiting for our August #SomeplaceHot prompt? I‘m going to Cuba with Next Year in Havana.

TheEllieMo I was planning on heading to Botswana, which is classed as sub-tropical. Looking at average temperatures, it‘s not as hot as I thought it was, though! 1w
TheAromaofBooks I pulled The Paradise Problem off my shelf for this challenge, but actually have no idea where it takes place... I guess I just assume it's hot because the cover is covered in palm leaves 😂 1w

OriginalCyn620 I really enjoyed Next Year in Havana…hope you enjoy it too! 1w
julieclair @TheEllieMo That‘s interesting. To me, anyplace in Africa seems like it would be hot! 1w
julieclair @TheAromaOfBooks Palm Trees = Hot in my mind! 🌴 1w
julieclair @OriginalCyn620 Oh good! I have only read one other book by Chanel Cleeton, but I loved it. 1w

I‘ve loved every book by this author that I‘ve read, so I had to make it my choice for August‘s #fictionaltraveler! It‘s set in Key West ☀️

#Read2025

Finished for June‘s #AuthorAMonth & #FictionalTraveler #Water
Thanks to @Soubhiville I read it on SerialReader which I think helped me with its short sections. It has some beautiful writing but not enough plot & too much stream-of-consciousness for me & was hard to keep track of. I got behind in A Room of One‘s Own on SerialReader & I may try to finish it tonight but I don‘t know that I will read more Woolf unless pushed to do so. 😉

julieclair Your comment about not reading more Wolfe unless pushed to do so totally resonated with me. 🎯 1w

This was my first time reading Boyne and it was fantastic!! I‘ll definitely be picking up more of his books. A pretty short book but so powerful and packed with great characters, some many emotions and just simply excellent writing.

My #FictionalTraveler book for July.

Erinreadsthebooks The Heart‘s Invisible Furies is one of my all-time favorites ❤️ 1w
julieclair I have never read Boyne, either. But this book sounds fantastic! Great review. Stacked. 1w
Read4life @Erinreadsthebooks Wow! I have that on my bookcase. It‘s definitely moving up my TBR. Thanks!! 1w
JacqMac He‘s definitely in my list of top 10 authors. I love everything he writes. Invisible Furies is one of my favorites, too. 1w

#Read2025 #SeriesLove2025

I‘m trying to catch up on my reviews for June 🤦🏻‍♀️ & this book (the 21st in the Bakeshop Mystery series) was my June pick for #FictionalTraveler #APlaceYoudLikeToVisit (it‘s set in Costa Rico) & it was also a June #Roll100 pick: Any Mystery & an #ARC from the publisher.

An enjoyable entry into the series with Jules & Carlos going to Costa Rica to visit a former colleague‘s family coffee plantation & taking Andy ⬇️

DebinHawaii … with them to learn more about his beloved coffee. Of course there‘s a murder & Jules is on the case. I think it was a solid entry in the series & I like the Costa Rica/coffee angle but I also like being back home at Torte in Ashland so hoping the next book will be set back there. 2w

julieclair I love it when one book fits multiple challenges! I also like your “any mystery“ idea for #Roll100. I always name specific books, but I think I may include some category choices next year. 2w
