Where will everyone be traveling for the #FictionalTraveler #HomefortheHolidays prompt this month? I‘ll be traveling to Virginia with Dashing Through the Snowbirds. 🎄

#FictionalTraveler will continue for 2026! I‘ll do a separate post with the new prompts, but feel free to comment below if you already know you‘d like to be added to or removed from the tag list. Everyone welcome!

TheEllieMo Home for me is Gloucestershire in the UK, with the aid of Cider With Rosie, by Laurie Lee 2d
Booksblanketsandahotbeverage I have the Owlcrate version of the tagged for some holiday vibes. 2d
BarkingMadRead I have a whole stack of holiday books, not sure which one will count, I have to check them! 2d

dabbe I'll be in London with my annual reread of A CHRISTMAS CAROL. Thanks for hosting us again in 2026! 💙☃️🩵 2d
DebinHawaii Still deciding where to be “home” for the holidays. 😉 I‘m excited for 2026! 2d
Zuhkeeyah I'm heading back to MI for the holidays. Not sure if I'll find a book set in the mitten, but hoping for at least the midwest. 1d
Enchanted_Bibliophile I'm not aware of any good Christmas books from Home. So I'm sticking with my all-time favourite Christmas read: A CHRISTMAS CAROL 1d
TheAromaofBooks I'm quite excited because I actually have a book I picked up at a local bookstore, written by an Ohio author!! Not in the database - Falling Home by Libby Kay 1d
Itchyfeetreader So I told myself am doing no challenges this year other than making way with the 4 geographic ones I have left in my wake since 2021 … but this looks fun and like it might let me double up. I may dive in and out therefore ! 17h

#Read2025 #SeriesLove2025

Finished a couple of weeks ago for November‘s #FictionalTraveler #Asia

I liked this second book in the series set in 1930‘s Singapore. This one takes place just after the first book with Su Lin now working at & living above the Detective & Intelligence unit. A high-profile wedding is rocked by the death of the groom after a prank involving betel nut juice. It gets a bit convoluted, but it kept the pages turning.

DebinHawaii I almost forgot that this book is one of my November #Roll100 picks, #19 Any Historical Fiction 5d

And I'm up to date with #FictionalTraveler too! @julieclair

Unfortunately I really didn't like this book. I was expecting a sweet forbidden lesbian romance set in Iran, and instead got a couple of naive selfish drama merchants -[cont in comments]

Also, be aware, though sold as a romance this is NOT A ROMANCE NOVEL.

Lauredhel [cont] and the POV character hatching a plan to have a surgical sex change (she's not actually trans, so I'm not calling it gender affirming care) so she can marry her girlfriend.

Along with the unlikeable main characters, the prose is just not great. I really enjoyed one of Farizan's other books , so perhaps this was just a debut novel issue?

julieclair It‘s always such a letdown when a book turns out to be less than you expected. 😕 But your review is very well done! 2w
Lauredhel @julieclair I also kinda feel bad about it, because yes, teenagers are selfish and naive and that's developmentally appropriate? But I feel like the role of YA lit, among other things, is to show growth, and I didn't really get that. 2w

I do love a bit of Japanese whimsy. Not so much a novel as a collection of short stories about people who need help finding a clinic open visible to people who need it, where the treatment is cats prescribed as emotional support animals ☺️ 🐈‍⬛. As a slave to two cats, I know how much snuggles from a cat can help!
Second finish for #10BeforeTheEnd @ChaoticMissAdventures
#Asia for #FictionalTraveler @julieclair
Book 95 #Read2025 @DieAReader

ChaoticMissAdventures ✔️✔️ I need to get to this one! 3w
