I really really disliked this book, so I'm glad it at least filled a prompt!

Little rich kids and their hateful family gather on a private island and *waves hands* twisty blahblah I really don't care because the only likeable characters are the dogs.

@julieclair #FictionalTraveler

Texreader Tell it like it is!! Great review 3d
Lauredhel @Texreader haha I always do! 3d
julieclair 😂😂 Excellent review! Crossing this one off my TBR list. 3d

rubyslippersreads The poor dogs! 3d
Ruthiella I hated that book too . 😅 3d
Lauredhel @julieclair a LOT of people love it and that's fine too! I think it probably works best as a teen's first twisty book. 2d
Lauredhel @rubyslippersreads yes I think that's part of why I hated it so much. Didn't find a single person who content-noted that even under a spoiler warning. 2d
Lauredhel Can I just also say that another thing I really hated is that the author repeatedly attempted to nod to class differences and the fact that the staff are people too, which I THOUGHT was leading up to at least one of these faceless island staff becoming a real character in the book? But no. 2d
Lauredhel Even the map of the island goes out of its way to have a separate Staff Dock and Family Dock. Does this matter or come up in the book? It does not. 2d

Good morning, everyone! The moment you have all been waiting for!! Our official #BookSpin number is FOUR! Our official #DoubleSpin number is ELEVEN (so close to 12 😂)!! I have thoroughly enjoyed looking at everyone‘s lists & am really looking forward to seeing your reviews!!

My next post will be the #BookSpinBingo card. I am NOT tagging anyone on that post!! If you want to bingo, please just check my profile for the card. This saves me ⬇

TheAromaofBooks (cont‘d) having to double tag everyone/keep track of who wants to bingo and who doesn‘t!!

I use the same tag list for the entire year, so if you would like to be added or removed, please just let me know. It takes me a while to tag everyone (there are a lot of you!!!) so I will add “FINISHED” to the last tag batch so you know whether or not I missed you. If I did, it was completely inadvertent. Sometimes I just spell someone‘s username wrong. ⬇

TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) As always, the link to the masterpost about how this challenge works can be found on my profile or here - https://thearomaofbooks.wordpress.com/bookspin-bookspinbingo-litsy-challenge/ - and the link to the Google Form where you can track your reads for the end-of-the-year-giveaway can be found here - https://forms.gle/2TgEz5N3NLq3GyV56

Thanks for playing, everyone!! Please know that I read EVERY comment on this post but don't always ⬇
3d
TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) have time to reply to them all!! Thank you all so much for your enthusiasm and for making this challenge SO much fun!!

I'm going to post the Bingo board, and then come back and start the tag list on this post. Happy reading!!!

I love when McGuire gives us the in-depth dive into characters we've already been introduced too.

She not only writes epic adventures with well love characters, but she so fluently adds such hard topics that I'm always amazed by her brilliance.

Another dazzling addition to the series.
I feel like I need to re-read them all... again.

The #FictionalTraveler prompt for July is #Water . Hopefully our reading will bring some refreshing fictional escapism for those of us who have been dealing with oppressive heat. 🥵💦💧💦

What will everyone be reading?

julieclair I‘ll be reading 7d
julieclair Oops! I missed @OriginalCyn620 and @MatchlessMarie when tagging. Hope I have everyone now. 💙 7d
MatchlessMarie I‘ve been doing some of these prompts out of order. I read Problematic Summer Romance by Ali Hazelwood for this prompt this month. It mostly takes place in Italy near the Ionian coast. I also added Pretty Girls by Karin Slaughter to this prompt on SG which I hope to get to this year too. 7d

Val is always a solid 4 star read for me.
I love her characters, their relationships and the very realistic growth they show.

Karen and her cold cases are quickly becoming my most favourite. The way Val structure these stories makes it page turners even knowing there's no life to save at the end.

This installment had a very intriguing plot and is set during COVID, so every normal thing had to be done slightly differently.

TheAromaofBooks Woohoo!! 2w
julieclair Great review! I have never read any of her books, but now I want to! 7d
Enchanted_Bibliophile @julieclair Definitely try her out. The Grave Tattoo is a great standalone if you don't want to commit to a series right away 4d

Mehso-so

I liked the idea of this book, but the execution did not deliver. This main character was difficult to feel engaged with, and the 1979 story line seemed very flat. Sad, because this could have been great.
