This book is awesome. It is clear and concise, but also funny and just a little cheeky. I can see kids really enjoying this book. Kendi and Reynolds make it very clear that the belief that any group is better or worse is racist. This is not racist against anyone. It mentions white people who hold antiracist views throughout history and black people who hold racist and assimilationist views throughout history. 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻

GingerAntics It also mentions how this is all made worse by sexism and homophobia. It‘s really the trifecta of what conservatives fear. That‘s the only thing they‘re objecting to. I imagine their kids don‘t mind the book at all. It‘s the parents with the problem. 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻 3y

GingerAntics The claim that the book contains “selective storytelling incidents” is absurd. If that‘s all it takes to ban a history book (or not a history book in this case), then every single history book on the planet, most especially K12 textbooks need to be banned too. There would be nothing for historians to study in graduate school because they ALL do that. 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻 3y

GingerAntics No, this doesn‘t go into great depth about racism against other people, but that‘s not its scope, and it‘s honest about that. Rather than banning this book, if this is the true objection, encourage the writing of another book for indigenous people, another for Asian people, another for Hispanic people, etc. so experts in those fields can tell those stories. No one book is going to cover everything, nor should it try. 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻 (edited) 3y

GingerAntics I‘d love to know which “public statements of the author” people are upset about. The only ones I‘ve heard boil down to “racism is bad, let‘s work together to stop being racist.” If you have a problem with that, if you have a problem with your child learning that, the problem is not this book, the author, or his public statements. #Stamped #IbramXKendi #JasonReynolds #audiobook #BannedBooksWeek 3y
