The conclusion to The Hoboken Chicken Emergency is just as ridiculous and fun as the first two. Nick and his two friends are bored in the summer heat and decide to try creating art. They make new friends, participate in an art contest, and visit a museum under the chaperonage of a giant chicken dressed as a nun. 😂 Somehow Pinkwater makes it work.

1. I don‘t know. I asked my mom about it and she doesn‘t know either.

2. I read an ARC this month for a book called Time Boxing by Marc Zao Sanders. I‘m disappointed that I didn‘t find it helpful for me because it‘s a time management book.

3. My 6th grade teacher gave me the books in the Girl Talk series. I was 11 years old. I reread the tagged book so many times that I broke the spine on the paperback.

I inherited some of these books #InspiredByTVorFilm from my older sister (still dating myself) & I remember thinking they were pretty groovy! 😉☮️🌻🧡

Not the tagged book, but by the same author. This horse story has languished on my shelves for decades, and I'm not sure why I've never read it. Published (and set) during the Korean War, a young man leaves for the armed forces. His younger brother, who has a club foot and is ineligible to fight, stays behind and raises the colt they're convinced can be a champion harness racer. While fairly typical horse book fare, I still really enjoyed this ⬇

TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) this one and was rooting for Star the whole way.

I made a brief visit to Toronto yesterday and had to stop by my favourite bookstore, BMV on Bloor, where I picked up a couple of vintage mysteries.

#NewYearNewBooks Day 29: #InvolvesPoison - this book takes the reader to the realm of the marvelous and the strange, what with books moving of their own free will, or the presence of malignant books that poison other books - #InvolvesPoison- around them, not to mention a wild book that will only make itself visible to the right reader, under the right circumstances. Eggs Sounds wonderful 📚👌🏼📚 3mo

The Time-travelling Caveman | Terry Pratchett

Short stories published when Terry Pratchett was just starting to develop the skills that would make him Terry Pratchett.

A fairy tale retelling that emphasizes the importance of unionizing? A caveman proving his humanity in a court of law? Delightful. And it‘s been so fun to see early publishings of Pratchett. It gives me hope for my own writing, because while we can see his humor & his skill, he comes a long way up through Discworld. 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑

ChaoticMissAdventures I just saw a Twitter thread where his daughter overheard a woman in the subway talking about Pratchett 's books and she was debating talking to them! She ended up having a little chat with them and now I feel like I need to just talk out loud about him constantly just in case I find myself in her presence 😂 3mo

julesG It is good to see that even the 'great' writers had to hone their skills and started out with slightly less great stories. 3mo
