Girl Out of Water | Nat Luurtsema
post image
Pickpick

This was fab. It's about a girl who was supposed to become an Olympic swimming champion-in-training, but after losing a tryout she finds herself stuck at normal school, without her best friend or any idea what to do with her life instead. It features friendship, family, boys and getting into trouble in swimming pools and aquarium tanks. It made me laugh out loud and really put me in the mood for a swim! #YA #UKYA #youngadult #litsyforandroid

yayeahyeah Oh yay! This is one of the funniest I've read for ages; so glad you enjoyed! 8y

The Sky Is Everywhere | Jandy Nelson
post image

More like the emotions are everywhere, am I right? This book was heartbreaking in the extreme! Stories about sisters always deeply affect me and this one, about Lennie, who is left reeling after her elder sister dies, was no exception. Lennie doesn't know what to do, what to think - and then she finds herself torn between two boys, falling in love when she thinks she's meant to be nothing but sad. #jandynelson #YA #youngadult #litsyforandroid

The Bookshop Book | Jen Campbell
post image
Pickpick

This book is a love letter to bookshops, booksellers, and all the wonderful books waiting to be discovered on the shelves of a shop. I read it and immediately wanted to set off on a world tour of bookshops. I especially loved the idea of the hat-and-book shop mentioned - I must visit some day! I got to interview the author for my blog (thisfleetingdream.blogspot.com) when this came out. #bookshop #nonfiction #jencampbell #litsyforandroid

Cuckoo Song | Frances Hardinge
post image
Pickpick

This is the perfect book for this time of year. Beautifully written and gloriously creepy - but full of sympathy for the 'monster', Triss, who wakes up after an accident aware that something isn't quite right about her. She's hungry all the time and her sister is acting extremely strangely. I loved the #historical setting and the exploration of sibling relationships. #paranormal #MG #YA #UKYA #British #fantasy #fairytale #litsyforandroid

Have a Little Faith | Candy Harper
post image
Pickpick

Have a Little Faith may be the most underrated #UKYA book of all time! Delightfully hilarious, it follows the misadventures of fourteen-year-old Faith, who has been separated from her best friend Megs at school and is determined to be good enough to be allowed to be in the same class again. But she just can't help getting into trouble... #YA #candyharper #british #litsyforandroid

misswendyd This definitely sounds like my kind of book! 8y
MrBook Great review! 8y
yayeahyeah @misswendyd, it is AMAZING - I have read 4 times and loved more each time. Two sequels are hilarious too. As a trilogy, one of the best portrayals of friendships I've ever read. 8y

I'll Give You the Sun | Jandy Nelson
post image
Pickpick

Art. Love. Sibling betrayal. Heartbreak. Loss. I'll Give You The Sun is a beautiful story told from two perspectives as twins Jude and Noah, narrating at different ages, explain how their hearts were broken and find their way back to each other. Just writing this review has me itching to reread it! #YA #jandynelson #litsyforandroid

One of the funniest, most warm-hearted books I've ever read - it's been months and I still keep remembering bits and laughing! It's about a boy and a girl who like each other but are too shy and daft to admit it outright, and their friends who keep getting in the way. #UKYA #YA #comedy #funny #litsyforandroid #tomellen #lucyivison

After the Last Dance | Sarra Manning
post image
Pickpick

This is Sarra Manning's fourth #adult book, about Rose, who runs away from home to London during the Second World War, and Jane, another runaway, who encounters Rose in the present day. I loved Rose and her WW2 story immediately but took longer to warm to the present-day characters, though I loved that they're as complicated and difficult as real people. Ultimately I really enjoyed it! #historical #sarramanning #litsyforandroid

misswendyd I just ordered this one! On its way from The Book Depository. I'm glad to see you liked it. :) 8y
JazzFeathers I'm always wary of dual timelines. It always seem that one of the two is disappointing 7y
