This was quite a thrill read. The plot starts off slowly but then it really ramps up in the second part. The story is mostly told from Theo's persepective but we also see moments from Gus and Mac, adding more depth. The ending is really well done and i loved how it all came together. The truth of everything is so clever and twisted. I found myself hooked from almost the start and was desperate to see how it would end. #Netgalley 4*

Meh… 2 1/2 stars for this trope laden over produced and over played who-done-it. I do like the old radio play type of feel though. That was worth it if you could get beyond the ham acting.

Very enjoyable espionage thriller. I figured out the twist about 2/3rds into the book, but a fun read nonetheless. Will definitely be going back to read the first in this series, but first…

This was a first for me by this author. I was intrigued by it and felt she did a pretty good job of making a thriller/mystery. While it did have just a bit about conspiracy theories in the beginning of some chapters it did by no means take away from the story.

I enjoyed this book. It wasn't a favorite but still it was good.

Didn‘t realize it was No. 2 in a series until I was knee-deep and could not turn back. 🤣

I thought this was clever. Much of the book was done in different styles. That is, much of the book was told directly from the author to the reader, breaking the “fourth wall". I also thought the atmosphere was done well – I definitely pictured the ‘70s hunting lodge: all brown wood paneling with hunted animal heads on the walls and such. But, I also found it quite “literary” and a bit dry. I certainly didn‘t care about the people. Cont in comnts

LibraryCin I did, however, like the twist near the end – that, I definitely didn‘t see coming. I also liked the way things were revealed at the end. 1mo

I really liked this. Have to admit, though, there was more than once where I said to myself – call the police! Don‘t do these things yourself (and that includes “talking to” Frank – he‘s not a cop, anymore!). This was the 2nd book in a series, but to be honest, I remember next to nothing of the first book, so I would say you don‘t need to read the first one first

Theodosia Benton abandons her career as an attorney and shows up on her brother‘s doorstep. She now wants to be a novelist. Her mentor is brutally murdered. The police begin looking at her brother, Gus, as their prime suspect. Gus finds a thread of the murder and follows it. Theo Benton is now missing and everyone looking for her will have to die.

EadieB This is a rollercoaster ride of a book. It‘s a literary thriller that Theo Benton will have to endure. The ending of the book was a complete shock as the truth finally came out. Read this book and discover who people are trying to protect. If you like stories that turn things upside down then you will love this book. (edited) 1mo

Think this is the best true crime book I‘ve read (but tbh I haven‘t read that many!) really compelling, and contained all the necessary forensic detail without feeling dry. Totally heartbreaking, but nice to be reading an updated version with a ‘happy‘ ending for some of the main players (Cinnamon).
