AnnCrystal Always love how vibrant gouache is 🎨💝. 2mo
bookandbedandtea @AnnCrystal I've only started using it this week and I'm enjoying learning how it works. 🎨 2mo

AnnCrystal 👏🤩👍@bookandbedandtea that is clever!

I found some last year...a small set of tubes that I have not opened. Want to save these for something extra special. Took forever to find!

Now that you have mentioned how you are learning to use gouache, it makes me realize that I should probably work with mine before I really need them for a project...save me from blunders later on 😂🎨💝.

bookandbedandtea @AnnCrystal Yes, try them! Use them! I've started to turn away from the "saving" things viewpoint. Use the fine crystal and the fancy ingredients and interesting art supplies! 2mo
bookandbedandtea @AnnCrystal I'm (obviously) and very amateur artist but I have fun painting so I keep doing it. I've alternated between watercolor and acrylic till now but I really like the feel of these gouache paints. 😄 2mo
AnnCrystal 👏😉👍 @bookandbedandtea I agree. I really must quit the, saving things habit 😂.

With paint, it's watercolor and acrylics for me too... depending on what I am working on. I favorite the watercolors. Have you tried the watercolor pencils? Love these.

Love to believe that we are all amateur artist...always learning 🎨😉💝. And this is really good! You even added the shadow, highlighting the natural light from the window...very well done.

bookandbedandtea @AnnCrystal I haven't tried watercolor pencils yet but I've been meaning to! I'm going to order some today. 😁 2mo
AnnCrystal 👏😎👍💝.@bookandbedandtea good for travel art kit. I also like the watercolor paint brushes that store water inside for my travel kit 2mo
bookandbedandtea @AnnCrystal I have some of those brushes that store water in them but haven't tried them yet. 🤔 This is encouraging me to give those a try too! 2mo
AnnCrystal @bookandbedandtea 👏🥳💝. Try! I love these. They are only for watercolor...I learned that the difficult way 😂. I read that some artist mix their own paint into them, but I feel that it would stain and limit their usefulness. 2mo
Catsandbooks Lovely! ❤️ 2mo
bookandbedandtea @AnnCrystal Right! I feel like it would only be able to use them for that one color (or similar colors) once I did that. I think. once I start using them. that I'll stick to watercolors. 😁 2mo
AnnCrystal 🎨😊👍@bookandbedandtea true. That's a good plan. With only water, they are easy to just dab on a cloth to clean. Replace the cap and they are ready to use for the next project. I love them. 🎨😉👍💝. 2mo

Cake is fine, but I believe pie is happiness, connection, and love. So this year, I will strive to include all the pies I encounter, in real life and in literature 🔥

First Pie January 1, 2024: Sugar Cream Pie aka Hoosier Pie. It is very good.

Wishing you all much pie, fabulous pie connections, and world peace ☮️

AnnR Yum! 12mo

tpixie That looks delicious! I made a chess pie for bookclub a few months ago- it tasted good but not as beautiful as yours- your pie & crust is beautiful!! 🤩 12mo
BkClubCare @tpixie - aw, thanks! I only can say that I do a LOT of practice, but I feel I still have much to learn and perfect yet. Point is that pie always tastes good pretty or not! Usually 12mo
tpixie @BkClubCare yes! And what a fun thing to practice with! Snap! Now I have to eat a piece of pie! 🥧 12mo

Quince pie 🥧 is in my future. 😁 Anyone encountered quince in their reading recently? Discovered the bush under one of our windows has fruit this year! We‘ve lived here 3 years; first we‘ve noticed. 🤣 This cookbook has a Quince Custard.

BkClubCare Love that the cookbook has “Popular Edition”. Like, is there an UNPOPULAR edition? 14mo
Tamra @BkClubCare 😂 14mo
rockpools I love everything about this! We used to have a quince in our hedge in an old house - it was beautiful! I wonder if one would grow here… (off to Google!). Enjoy your pie! 14mo

Couldn‘t get past the insipidness; flat one-dimensional characters and I feared hurting myself with the eyerolls. I didn‘t even get to the mystery! Lots of pies but even pie couldn‘t rescue my interest.

bthegood beautiful flowers and view! 1y
Bklover Gorgeous flowers! 1y
BkClubCare @Bklover @bthegood - IKR?! A present from my MIL; these are Angelonia - which apparently comes in many varieties? 1y

Loving this new book from the Australian Tivoli Road Bakery. Really clear instructions for perfect pastry ! Tried the Butter chicken pies yesterday made with chicken thighs and lovely flaky 50/50 butter/lard pastry. Looking forward to more new pastry adventures with this book!

LeeRHarry Ooh love their doughnuts! I haven‘t been there for years as it‘s the opposite side of town and I don‘t work that way on anymore but I still remember them 😋 2y
Mitch @LeeRHarry oh I might just have to live through you! They‘re lamington doughnut sounds divine! 2y

Pickpick

After her dad's arrest, Cady is sent to live with her aunt, Shell, in a small Californian town.
It's a coming-of-age story that conveys the angst of Cady, all the feelings she's going through, and how she learns to feel better. It's an uplifting story, full of sweetness and hope.
