It‘s always a bit of a question whether the fruit will actually stay put with Nigella‘s cranberry upside down cake, but this time most of it ended up in the right place! Hurray! I whipped the cake up special this afternoon to use up the last of the cranberries I got in the post-Thanksgiving sale. Only people recovering from Covid were allowed to eat some.

xicanti An interesting Thing about cranberries and this recipe: it calls for 3/4 cup OR 6oz (I bought my copy of the book in the US). I always go by weight, and I end up with more like 1.5 cups of cranberries. I can only conclude the UK variety is twice as heavy as what we get in Canada, which might also explain why so many of the cranberries want to float up into the cake while it cooks. 2w

TheBookHippie Yummmmm. I sometimes have trouble converting her recipes too but they always taste good. Hope all people return to health! 2w

Yesterday I took myself to lunch & for dessert I tried a cute ice cream place next door to the cafe that opened this summer. I had scoops of Dutch Apple Pie & Banana Pudding & sat & read my book.🍦😋 Their pink neon sign inspired this haiku.
