Just caught up to my goal. I‘ve been laid off since Apr 1st! Laid off and quarantined! How am I not crushing my goal? #readinggoals2020

DGRachel Quarantine + layoffs = heavy emotional burden. That can make it tough to read. Sending hugs. 4y
LeslieO Thanks @DGRachel ! You are right, it was hard to concentrate at first. 4y

This book was in the top of my TBR list for many years. Somehow I used to miss. That‘s why this year I started with this book. My first book for #readingwithmaja #january book with snow on its cover (though it‘s a picture of snow capped mountain!😛) @maich
#readingchallenge2020 #readinggoals2020 #travel

Reagan This book started my love affair with books about mountaineering. It is excellent. 4y

Andrew65 @Tove_Reads It‘s one I am setting up on Librarything as a year challenge (or longer) to visit all the counties, states, provinces etc of The British Isles (England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and Ireland), The US and Canada through books. (edited) 4y
MrBook 😁👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🥳🥳🥳 4y
Andrew65 200 from your TBR, that‘s a big challenge because no doubt there will be other books you read that won‘t currently be on your TBR. A great list! 🥳😍 (edited) 4y
EadieB @Andrew65 I realize that I won‘t own all the books needed to complete my goals but they are automatically on my TBR. Just a matter of semantics. 4y
Andrew65 @EadieB That‘s True, there area a lot of books on my TBR that I don‘t own a copy of. 4y
arubabookwoman Hi Eadie-is there a link to the group reads thread on Library Thing? Is it open to anyone on LT? Have the group reads books been chosen? Thanks. @Andrew65 (edited) 4y
gradcat That‘s a LOT of books, @EadieB but if anyone can do it, it‘s you (or @Andrew65 or both of you 😂)! ♥️ 4y
Andrew65 @arubabookwoman Anyone is welcome to join we are in the middle of series, with some standalones. I will be pulling together the 2020 list (we do 2 a month) over the next 48 hours. We would love to have you join us. They will be posted on the Mystery and Suspense Group, which will show you the books we have read this year. The first one will be book 2 in the Kim Stone Series by Angela Marsons. http://www.librarything.com/groups/mysteryandsuspense 4y
Andrew65 @arubabookwoman If you have any other questions do please ask. 😊 4y
Crazeedi @Andrew65 @EadieB what's the separated by the pond read? Not that I need to have another challenge, lol. I'm doing 4 now! 4y
Crazeedi @Andrew65 @EadieB how do you read so many books? I've read 165 this year, and I consider myself a speed reader. I'm so impressed by you all! I do have a house etc to take care of too, though it has been neglected more and more, lol 4y
Andrew65 @Crazeedi We are attempting to collectively visit States / Counties / Provinces of the Countries either side of the Atlantic : USA, Canada, England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland. Likely to be a long term project! Hopefully will be able to multitask on it from other books we read. (edited) 4y
Andrew65 @Crazeedi Audiobooks for any driving and for when too tired to physically read, devoting a LOT of time to reading (luckily my wife reads as well) and taking part in loads of readathons. Have read more year on year for last 5 - 10 years. Not that many years ago where only read 1 - 2 books a month. This year I will either read 281 or 282 books. According to the App I use I have read 54 pages an hour this year and read for 2159 hours and 14 mins (edited) 4y
gradcat @Andrew65 How are you doing, Andrew? I haven‘t checked in with you in a bit...are you feeling any better? I do hope you have a good day today for celebrating the new year...all the best & Happy, Happy!! 🥳 4y
gradcat @EadieB Will you be doing anything special tonight, Eadie? I just want to check in with you to wish you all the best for a wonderful 2020! I‘ve been a bit busy with guests & etc.—holiday dealings, in other words—but things may be slowing down a bit now, so I hope to be chatting with you more now. 🥳🥂♥️ 4y
EadieB @gradcat Thanks! Just reading and wrapping up the readathon tonight. Wishing you a great and marvelous New Year too! Hope you had a great birthday also! 4y
gradcat @EadieB I did, Eadie, and thanks again for my gifts...I feel overwhelmed! You‘ve given me so much! You really are so thoughtful! I hope you have a nice evening, quietly reading...I intend to do exactly the same. I love New Year‘s Eve, but I don‘t think I‘ve celebrated anywhere except my own home for at least ten years—I love to stay in, keep warm, and wait for one minute past minute. That‘s a good time for me! 😂 4y
EadieB @gradcat I like to stay home on NewYear's Eve too! Great night for reading! 4y
gradcat @EadieB Hope you got lots of reading done...Happy New Year! 🥳🎆🥂 4y
EadieB @gradcat yes I read 7 books during the readathon. 4y
gradcat @EadieB Wow! Congratulations—that‘s fantastic! ♥️ 4y
EadieB @gradcat Thanks! 4y

#ReadingGoals2020 don‘t want to get too bogged down in goals as it can affect my enjoyment of reading, but #Booked2020 and the Modern Mrs Darcy challenge aren‘t too onerous.

My goal is to make a noticeable dent in the TBR mountain. Here‘s a pic of 36 of them! There are probably 200 more upstairs 🤯! Do I fully intend to read them all next year? Absolutely!!

marleed On my shelves, I‘m thinking about turning my all my finished books pages out while leaving my TBR spines out. I don‘t think that arrangement will last for long but I‘m curious if it will inspire me to attack my TBR with renewed gusto! 4y
Scochrane26 I was thinking of putting all my tbr in one section, even though I know which ones they are & it will separate books by same author. Either way, I need to do some rearranging. 4y
Kenyazero You can do it! 4y

Laughterhp Great goal! I feel like I make that goal every year and then never stick to it 🤦‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🤦‍♀️ 4y
Eggs Thank you @Kenyazero ❣️ 4y
Eggs @marleed @Scochrane26 I keep my tbr books on their own shelves and force myself to choose from them first 🤓. Some of them will be bails I‘m sure so at least I‘ll know which to donate 4y
Eggs @Laughterhp Agreed-there are always kindle deals etc that I think I must have!!! 4y

#DearDecember Day 30: Our #ReadingGoals2020 at GatheringBooks. Overarching theme for 2020 is to read international literature, but we also have our quarterly reading themes as you can see above. Do join us and use the tag #ReadIntl2020. My goal is to read from 30 countries. We define international lit as translated titles, or books published outside of Canada, US, UK by people of colour, or narratives of im/migrants whose 1st lang is not English.

Eggs Worthy challenges!! 4y
