I haven‘t been posting much, but I‘m going to try to more often. I just started as a school librarian this school year, and it‘s been a lot of work and so fun. The first big change I made was painting a mural on the back wall. It just had a white wall with a book quote before and I wanted to add color. This picture is from back in August. #schoollibrary

“You add to the existing surrogate record and make this a second copy. In reality, your students don‘t care which edition they have, and they will get confused if they see two records for the same title. But, speaking as a cataloger, you have an edition that was created with the same type image with just a change in distributor. Make a second 020 for the Scholastic ISBN and be done with it.”

“The Resource Description and Access rule together with ISBD rules determine the content of the information included in the fields for physical description. However, RDA is not as concerned about the punctuation rules of ISBD as was AACR . . . The MARC21 rules determine how that information is organized for presentation in an electronic catalog.”

Our little guy got to go to his first scholastic book fair at school today. These are the three books he bought. So excited that he was able to experience a book fair this year!!

Forces of Nature by Brian Cox- This was a great book. The science teacher in me was nodding along with most of this book, I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Good Immigrant by Nikesh Shukla - Some really great stories.
Thanks to my school I'm glad I got to read it.

There is really a huge gap in the types of books my students borrow from the library 😅 Both 9th graders! Had to inform the pupil who wanted to borrow Norwegian Legislation that he could read Norway's laws online. It would be quite a heavy backpack to carry home! #litsyloveslibraries #teachersoflitsy #schoollibrary
