David Rush was an Eagle Scout.
Was.
In addition to his scout training, he had secured an ROTC scholarship for his first two years at Missouri State and frequently spent weekends camping with his uncle, Lt. John Rush, a retired medical officer in the United States Marine Corps.

This was a thing. A thing, I say!

I did the audio & they were on the money here. It‘s good, it‘s scary, it‘s full of WTF details.

Just advice? Don‘t pick on strange but harmless young men…unless you wanna birth a reaper of souls. 😰😈

Yikes. This feels so much more relevant than the first time I read it. Scary because it can happen here.

The fourth book in Adam Cesare's much-loved "CLOWN IN A CORNFIELD" series is coming soon!

In an interview at SDCC, the author revealed that he's almost done writing the fourth book in the series, and it'll be handed in by the end of this month!

Somehow? The movie was better? Idk. I watched the movie a few months ago and then found out it was a book, so I went in knowing vaaaaguely what to expect. The ending of the book is better imho, but the movie overall is more memorable. There was too much about the sex lives of high schoolers, including some blatant assault that‘s just…not discussed?? And the killer‘s motives were better than movie killer‘s.

2 stars | #thriller #notYA

MsRadioSilence Other issues I had: 1) the author is white writing from the perspective of a half-Black, half-Native Hawaiian girl who is in the middle of nowhere, Nebraska. I don‘t think Perkins has the experience to be writing from this perspective having never lived it herself. 2) this book is marketed as YA, probably bc of the MC‘s age (17), but I‘d argue it‘s more New Adult considering the content (sex, drugs, swearing, etc). 4mo

This isn't the first time I've rooted for the serial killer, but it may be the first time I felt sorry for one. And for his best friend Amber, who is trying to help him through her knowledge of slasher movies. I especially loved how Jones described how Tolly saw and felt things when in slasher mode. So much better than the mask eyes in Halloween.

I have now become a huge fan of Jones and will be reading more of his books.

This was an interesting read. Like the author, I love basketball. I played it as a kid, though in high school I focused on soccer. I grew up going to University of Memphis basketball games (Memphis State at the time!); my parents have stories of me being a baby and being passed up and down the row with other season ticket holders. March madness is my favorite time of year.

Lauranahe Also, horror is my favorite genre. My mom has a little journal she kept for a hot second when I was young, and when I was 5, she has recorded that my favorite movie was Critters. I‘ve always loved horror. (Cont…) 8mo
Lauranahe So when Josh Malerman wrote in the author‘s note at the end that this book is a love letter to basketball and horror…I get it. I GOT the girls in the book. The anxiety. The camaraderie. The fear. The love of the game, and of ghost stories. And the fear of the ghosts stories, and the truths of the rim. 8mo
