#CoffeeTableBooks are so entertaining to me!
I love this one because it focuses on ways to travel the world that aren‘t just about shopping/spending money & visiting fancy restaurants 🌎

not your average revolution.
more of a reimagined #BastilleDay but still has the spirit of 1789 through a modern San Francisco family.
It‘s messy, rebellious, & full of heart 🇫🇷
there‘s a chapter called The Tennis Court Oath which also happened in 1789.

Over the Edge: A Novel | Kathleen Bryant

27% in & this has 5⭐️vibes for me!
if #Sedona means anything to you, you have to read this. Bryant nails the place like no other! vortex pulls, Red Rock Fever, local lore, strange residents.
This is such a trip for me as I live less than an hour away & visit Sedona frequently! 🏜️

Anima Rising | Christopher Moore

“I could not give Wally or her #contemporary agency, but what I could do was portray her as resilient, clever, loving, courageous, resourceful, and #funny. For me, even though it was a story of a fictitious character from #literature & a cast of #historical figures, Anima Rising became Wally‘s book. For me, her memory has been a blessing.”

first Moore book & I‘m loving it so far!
through myth, satire & some naked models, Moore challenges the male gaze & gives power. It‘s reclamation & even a bit of feminine energy #art #historicalfantasy #feminine #uncommon #bibliophile #catsoflitsy #dark

Pizza Girl: A Novel | Jean Kyoung Frazier

Pickpick

raw, feral, numb, & tender all at once.
it's unraveling in a way that didn‘t feel like falling apart, just loosening.
i finished it and just… stared at the wall for a while.

i‘ll think of Pizza Girl when life slips into that oddly specific ache—the one you can‘t explain but everyone knows exists.
it has a name now.
& apparently, it brought pickles to the existential spiral lol

“I‘ve never eaten a person but today I might”

this book doesn‘t have any punctuation. It‘s a poetic inner monologue of a lion observing human behavior & navigating their own hunger.
I live for these funky stories! 🌈🐅

“Her name was Jenny Hauser & every Wednesday I put pickles on her pizza.” 🥒🍕

I find it funny that this isn‘t the main character‘s pregnancy craving. She actually chooses a chicken tender & peanut butter instead 🤣

The asylum January is sent to seems to be inspired by the Brattleboro Retreat in Vermont. In 1887, patients built a lookout tower as part of their treatment, but later, many tragically jumped from the top. The tower was eventually sealed off, but eerie stories about it & the surrounding areas still persist.
