Pickpick

This book took me on a wild adventure and I loved every second of it.

This book is a cult classic and I can definitely see why. There is something oddly intoxicating about it. Like it‘s kind of trashy but at the same time so ahead of its time. It‘s kind of ridiculous at times but still manages to convey a message to readers.

This was a very popular book in the 1960‘s.

Dolls: red or black; capsules or tablets; washed down with vodka or swallowed straight—for Anne, Neely, & Jennifer, it doesn‘t matter, as long as the pill bottle is within easy reach. These 3 women become best friends when they are young & struggling in New York & then climb to the top of the entertainment industry—only to find that there is no place left to go but down—into the Valley of the Dolls.

Crazeedi Yep read that book when it was published 5y

My Kindle is in this picture with the stack of books I want to read because I have some ebooks I started reading and I need to finish them. I haven‘t started listening to #valleyofthedolls yet because the first chapter is 6 hours long and I feel like I need to give it 6 hours of my undivided attention so I‘m probably going to start listening to it this weekend. Hopefully, I can make progress and get one of these books finished.

This spreadsheet has books I‘ve read starting with letters of the alphabet this year for the #atozbookchallenge. So far, I haven‘t read books starting with the letters F, G, H, Q, U, V, X, Y, Z. I didn‘t know that this challenge was around. I‘ve almost read books for every letter of the alphabet. I‘m about to start listening to the audiobook of #valleyofthedolls which will be a good book to read starting with the letter V.

GidgetsTreasures75 @DivaDiane Me too! I read it so many times. There is a terrible TV movie based on the book. I believe I watched it on YouTube. It's worth a glance. 7y

Valley of the Dolls was first published 1966. By 1971, it was in its 37th printing. I don‘t think it‘s ever been out of print. #jacquelinesusann #valleyofthedolls #blockbuster #bestseller #womenwhowrite #readingwomen
