My First Numbers: Let's Get Counting! | Dorling Kindersley Publishing Staff

This girl loves books. She has a funny way of scooting around on her butt and she will scoot at full speed to get to a board book and then spend a few minutes turning pages and looking at the pictures.

Not pictured is the pile of her big sisters‘ books that she pulled off the shelves upstairs. 😅

Alfoster How adorable! 3y
marleed I could spend all day looking at pictures that depict this love. How adorable! 3y

I loved this book about history, friendship, heartbreak, and math (but not in a you need a calculator math way!) The writing is excellent - clear voice that doesn't get bogged down with complex ideas while being believable about a math genius.

1. When I was able to attend my library‘s book club regularly, I read several books I enjoyed that I prob wouldn‘t have picked up otherwise. The tagged and Light from Other Stars come to mind.
2. Any book that has several themes usually makes a good discussion. Transcendent Kingdom was an interesting one.

This was my book club‘s selected book for the month. I wasn‘t sure I would like it, as the main character is a mathematician, but when it talked about math it was in broad unspecific ways. More in focus were Catherine‘s relationships with her family and the men in her life. The writing is beautiful and emotional. I‘d like to read more by the author.

Lots of trigger warnings though!

I mean... I love #research as much as the next gal...but sifting through so much chaff can get old, at home on a #quarantine day...

MargaretPinardAuthor True @julesG my eyes do tend to skim over parentheticals and percentages even on a good day... 🤷🏽‍♀️😝 4y

I thoroughly enjoyed this novel. The struggle of self and a place in the world really rang true. The characters were well rounded and I felt very believable. The sprinkling of math through the book really delighted me.

I loved this book about a woman mathematician, the sexism she faced, and her own growth and discovery of her past. I haven‘t seen it on many “best of 2019” lists, but I think it should be!

BarbaraBB It sounds real good indeed! 4y

This was an interesting panel about mathematics and women. I‘m interested in the tagged book.
