It‘s corn season!! 🥳🌽

By contrast to the fail on the sourdough, this chowder has amazing flavor! My only regret is not having enough leftovers for a complete meal tonight. (I even doubled the recipe.) #Mtcookbook

My mom came over for supper, and I made steel cut oatmeal with real maple syrup and topped with some granola (that part was my mom‘s idea). Enough for the two of us with some leftovers for my breakfast tomorrow 😋 🥄

Took myself out for brunch (vanilla latte and egg and cheese on a cheddar chive biscuit) along with my cookbook to plan what I‘m making my mom for Mother‘s Day.

Indonesian Shrimp Fried Rice for #Mtcookbook! I love all of the concise options ATK offers in one place. I‘m a big fan of tables & charts with variations of something.

From now on my rice preference is basmati, as blasphemous to the stir fried rice tradition as that might be.

Tonight I‘m going to try the orange sesame. 😋 (With chili crisp of course.) ♥️

Amiable I love basmati rice, too. 6mo
Tamra @Amiable 😊 I like that the grains remain separate. 6mo
JacqMac Bad@Stu is my preference, too. For all things. lol 6mo
mabell Yum! How did the orange sesame turn out? 6mo
Tamra @mabell we all liked it! It‘s hard not to like fried rice. 🙃 6mo

Score for $1.99 😃 Sometimes good things come to those who wait. I‘ve checked this out of the library a couple times.

Happily adding elevation to #Mtcookbook

mcctrish That will be jam packed with deliciousness 👏🏻👏🏻 6mo

Sometimes baking makes me nervous. I‘m not sure why. I‘m much better at regular cooking. But let me tell you, this sweet potato cornbread from The Savory Baker was easy and my husband LOVED it. My first time making it! The recipe called for baking in a cast iron pan, but I wanted to make muffins instead. I also made some honey-cayenne butter to spread on them and oh my goodness *chef‘s kiss*

I love America‘s Test Kitchen cookbooks #mtcookbook

TheBookHippie Yummmmmm. I love corn bread. 6mo

Pickpick

Unsurprising, because America‘s Test Kitchen is great, this is a terrific book. The photos, layout, and ideas are fantastic.

This was the Faux Leftover Fried Rice - the Thai version.

Tamra I very much respect ATK, so well tested & written. They can be a bit fussy for casual home cooking; sometimes I break the rules. 😉 8mo
mabell @Tamra You‘re right, they can be fussy at times! I like knowing that the recipe will turn out and why, which is something that makes me nervous about trying new recipes sometimes. Especially ones found online! 8mo
janeycanuck @Tamra @mabell haha - it‘s way safer to break the rules when you know the source is good! I‘m way more likely to make some tweaks on the first try on something from ATK than some random blog. 8mo
Tamra @janeycanuck so true! 8mo
mabell @janeycanuck Good point! 8mo

I haven‘t felt much like cooking over the last few weeks. I felt bad enough that I wound up urgently under the care of doctors this week as my blood pressure had spiked to 180‘s/100‘s and stayed there for a week or so. I just couldn‘t care to get my cookbooks out and make something. But I‘m feeling better every day now with BP treatment and my numbers are better. I‘m ready to get going again.

#mtcookbook friends: I‘m so sorry for my inactivity!

intothehallofbooks I know this wasn‘t exactly book-related but it‘s #mtcookbook related as I thought about what everyone else was cooking and what cookbooks they were using the entire time I felt ill. Book adjacent, if you will 😊 9mo
