Calculus | James Stewart
post image

Recently I've been reviewing the calculus textbook for my AP exam coming up. The author uses bold text for titles, examples, and visuals to help learners understand the content. Stewart also includes review exercises to help learners revisit subjects they may have forgotten. In all, James Stewart's Calculus is very helpful for learning calculus.

It was a helpful book to read with a bit of humor, I just didn‘t love having to read this for class

Writing tip from Seabiscuit:

Think I‘m cinematic terms when you need to figure out if you want to create full motion or if you would prefer slow motion. In general, the faster you want a sentence to go, the less punctuation you will use. Every mark of punctuation slows a passage down to some degree.

And today I came across this interesting article

Pickpick

You have to read the subtitle to know that this book focuses on using reading to inform your writing!

In each chapter, the author uses excerpts from famous books to give writing tips. My favorite chapter included an analysis of Seabiscuit by Lauren Hillenbrand. In fact, the author of The Boys in the Boat learned a lot from closely reading it!

However, this book would be better if it had more diversity in text selection and influential texts.

The Death of Truth | Michiko Kakutani

Went to the #library with the bingo prompts. I also picked out some new titles that looked interesting and some that I felt I needed to revisit before reviewing, like Death of Truth. I feel like at one point the tone and message shift but because I heard the audiobook, it's hard to double check. So I got the physical copy! #nonfiction #tbrpile #history #politics #environment #food #lgbtq #mentalhealth #analysis

Charles Conn is a former partner of McKinsey & Company and former CEO of the Rhodes Trust. Rob McLean is Director Emeritus of McKinsey & Company and a former Dean of the Australian Graduate School of Management. This book aims to set out a 7-step programme for complex problem solving but while there‘s some useful information here it presupposes a familiarity with some of the logic tree techniques, which makes it difficult to use for beginners.
