I suggest you dont read if you just experienced a death in your family. For some reason I thought this might be helpful to me as my first book of 2023. It was interesting, but so difficult for me to get through, took much longer than I usually take.

To all my friends, this says what my heart feels. I can't list everyone who has reached out to me in this time of sorrow. My brother in law is in hospice. I have to sit with my sister while her heart is ripped out and crushed. But the love you have all poured out will never be forgotten.

I'm sorry Littens I may not be posting much the next week or so. They are taking my brother in law off life support today. I am in mourning for a very good man today

My pick for February is a no brainer. Though definitely a chunkster, this book was a top read for me this year. The perspective from a life lived in ways so different from my experience was something to ponder for a long time. I highly recommend

(A day late!)

This is number 14 in the Ruth Galloway series. I'm happy that they haven't gotten stale. Covid lockdowns have hit Norfolk, and between keeping Katie occupied, teaching classes online and having a new neighbor, Ruth is stressed. Nelson is investigating several suicides that may not be what they look like. And Cathbad is the first of Ruth's friends that gets sick.
And there's a very intriguing ending, so the next one is a must read!

I never knew of Lucile Ltd, a designer at the turn of the 20th century. This tells of her rise from a middle class family to become a designer that rivalled Worth and other Parisian houses. It was worth the read, especially if you enjoy descriptions of fabrics, colors and design. The ending left a bit to be desired however
