Memoir interweaving the Great Salt Lake, birds and the death of the authors mother and grandmother.

mreads @Cinfhen well I'm definitely in the minority. There was quite a bit of religion and perhaps I feel differently about death in my late 40s. I did like by the author

mreads @Reggie Sad maybe? I don't think that's necessarily what the author wants but I'm white and the novel is not about anything extraordinary just about everyday life for a average looking dark skinned black woman and how she's treated in her community and by whites. It 5y

Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress | Dai Sijie

so-so

Set during China's infamous Cultural Revolution two city boys are exiled to a remote mountain village for reeducation where they meet the daughter of the local tailor and discover a hidden stash of Western classics in Chinese translation. This was just ok and the ending was jarring.

As part of my #centuryreadchallenge I searched goodreads for books from 1919 and found 'The Search' a popular romance that was free on kindle. Pretty good trope with strong but poor soldier, pretty rich socialite and rich powerful villain unfortunately there was also too much of the Christian God as well for me. If you read Christian romance you may like otherwise avoid.

The Man in the Queue | Josephine Tey

Josephine Tey is wonderful, I've liked quite a few of her novels/mysteries but this was just barely a pick. To be far it's her debut and she definitely gets better. I suggest starting with Brat Farrar.

Thought the date stamps from the back of the library book made a fun pic.
