My favorite wine 🍷 (watermelon pear)

🍉 🍐 🍷

monkeygirlsmama I'm not big on watermelon anything that isn't actual watermelon, but this flavor combo for wine intrigues me. What brand of label is it? My favorite wine is only available here during like one or two months during the summer from one particular grocery chain, it's a Hatch Chili Red and it's amazing! Sadly last summer I was freshly in the throws of grief and stocking up was the last thing on my mind. Always open to trying something new though. 🍷 2mo

Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @monkeygirlsmama it‘s from a local winery called Magnolia Winery! My daughter got me to try it last summer. I‘ve never been much of a drinker but wanted to find some wine I like. I wouldn‘t have thought this would be a good combination but it is fabulous! I also like the plain watermelon 🍉🍷 2mo

TheAromaofBooks I've learned from working at the orchard that pear juice is frequently used as a “carrier“ of flavors for other fruit juices/wines, because it doesn't have a strong taste but is sweet. We make a blackberry pear cider at the orchard in the fall that is AMAZING. 2mo
Eggs Sounds so yummy 🤤🍷❤️ 2mo
Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @TheAromaofBooks I love sweet! I have some actual pear that I haven‘t opened yet! 2mo
monkeygirlsmama @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks I'll have to look it up online. 2mo

TODAY‘S PROMPT: WINE

HISTORICAL FICTION - WWII - FRANCE - ROMANCE

France, wine, WWII, present day, and love - all of this wrapped into one amazing, difficult-to-put-down read.

Another marvelous, intriguing read about the resiliency and determination of the French people and the entire European population.

Pickpick

Soft pick for me. Set in the midst of WW2 and in the occupied champagne region this could have been an excellent historical novel. The research was there and the framework of an excellent story, instead this went in the direction of a more romantic novel with one too many twists for me. Enjoyable but didn‘t blow me away. For #jubilantjuly I hope to read daily (it‘s a tough week) but starting off strong

Andrew65 Excellent start 👏👏👏 8mo
dabbe Da cute pup didn't like it much either! 🖤🐾🖤 8mo
Itchyfeetreader @dabbe she‘s not a big fan of my reading. Much prefers the walking, playing and bringing of the snacks!! 8mo

#12booksOf2022 #July

This nonfiction book (with some speculative fiction too) of a woman who built a champagne empire was interesting.
A companion book was the novel
Champagne Widows: First Woman of Champagne: Veuve Clicquot by Rebecca Rosenberg

Larkken I learned about her in this, separate book and her story really stuck with me. Fascinating! 1y
tpixie @Larkken oh! Thanks! I‘ll stack that one! 1y
Andrew65 A very different choice. 1y
