"There was a large car-park and Dora nudged me and pointed to a notice which said LADIES and another which said TEAS. ‘I told you the whole place would be commercialised,‘ she said."

Dora trully is the worst travel companion!
Myself I appreciate a Ladies and a cup of tea.

AnneCecilie I know. Everything was wrong. Personally I enjoy sightseeing with a guide. So glad I won‘t have to travel with her. But again Mildred get mixed up in the Napiers. (edited) 2y
rubyslippersreads Dora is fairly unpleasant in most circumstances. It must have been awful to have her as a roommate. 2y

BarkingMadRead She is a nightmare, and further proof that Mildred is too nice 🤣 2y
eeclayton So true. I guess Mildred had nobody else to go with ☹️ 2y
TheBookHippie Ughhhh. It‘s so infuriating 😡. 2y
julieclair I do so wish Mildred would somehow find some new friends. 2y
Crinoline_Laphroaig @AnneCecilie of all the teas shops in the UK they just happen to run into Helena⁉️ 2y
AnneCecilie @Crinoline_Laphroaig Why did Mildred even want to visit that village? She must have known that it was so small that the chances of not meeting Helena was slim to none. 2y
Crinoline_Laphroaig @rubyslippersreads @eeclayton @TheBookHippie @julieclair @BarkingMadRun @AnneCecilie To me it's like those social things that you continue to do because you've done them forever and it's hard to stop doing them. Especially for Mildred a creature of habit. 2y
Crinoline_Laphroaig @AnneCecilie it sounded like it had been planned for awhile so supposedly just coincidence? I can't imagine Mildred going anywhere spontaneously. 2y
AnneCecilie @Crinoline_Laphroaig You‘re probably right 😊 She and Dora have probably had this planned for awhile. At least that must have meant that she was mentally prepared to meet Helena too. 2y
TheBookHippie @Crinoline_Laphroaig I agree with that. But ugh… the poor woman. 2y
julieclair @Crinoline_Laphroaig I think you're right. Mildred is living on autopilot. 2y
Sparklemn @julieclair Great description! Definitely on autopilot. 2y
DivineDiana I was surprised to see how prejudiced Dora was to the Catholics! 2y

A sub-plot running through the whole series, but this book particularly is Harry's #sneaking in regards to Draco. There have been lots of instances of eavesdropping, over-hearing, spying, and sneaking. It's about to culminate here, by the conclusion of #booksix and Rowling has done well to sustain it.

I know the picture has nothing to do with the quote, but I couldn't find a quote I liked to match the picture, or a picture to match the quote (does that even make sense?) Anyway, there's lots of eye rolling from Hermione, lots of anger from Hermione, and lots of insider knowledge from Hermione. She's such a clever one.

This chapter sees the beginning of the rise and rise of independent Hermione. While Ron and Harry get caught up in tasks, trials, and failing as dance partners, Hermione's moral backbone becomes more evident. But there are nice counter arguments from those always annoying twins.
