I love this book. That‘s why I picked it for the first book to discuss at a virtual book club I started at work (for residents at senior living communities). There‘s so much here: connection, loneliness, depression, hope, aging. We bought 30+ books!
Three people showed up and no one read the book. 😞
Their recommendations were Sue Grafton and John Grisham. #crushed
PatriciaU Ah, that sucks. I have found with some hard-to-reach groups that starting with what they want then introducing some other, more eclectic titles as you gain their trust can work. Book groups take so much patience. Hang in there! 3y

Reggie I‘m so sorry. You want to buddy read something? You pick and I‘ll read it with you? I went to one of those Barnes and Nobles book clubs and we had such a great time we decided to meet the next month I swear to God on the 7th. I told my dad about it and the man who‘s about war, gore, and horror read an Oprah pick, even though he has a chip on his shoulder about Oprah. We showed up and no one showed. Egg, all over my face!!! Keep at it, man. 3y
twohectobooks Argh, that‘s so disappointing and frustrating! Did everyone have lots of notice about the group? I know for my book club it helps when we have more than a month to read the book (mostly thirty somethings, including moms to young kids, so a bit of a different demographic). 3y

Michael_Gee @twohectobooks & @Bookzombie Thanks y‘all. I think the luring in is a good idea! Haha. I think the notice was a big issue. I was asked to lead a book group but wasn‘t apart of the planning process. Flyers didn‘t go out, books weren‘t ordered for weeks, etc. I definitely have ideas for next try and picked a couple months in advance. Maybe next time? 🤷 3y
