#ihavequestions

Ok @RaeLovesToRead , now that Thanksgiving is out of my system, let me deal with your questions.

1. I think the tagged book might be the only mystery I've read this year. ?
2. Found The Long Goodbye in a local used book store and am going to re-read (not sure if Chandler counts as "mystery", exactly).
3. I like locked-room mysteries, especially if they include a relatively plausible solution.

RaeLovesToRead Woo! 🥳🥳 5mo

@RaeLovesToRead has questions, y‘all! ❓
#IHaveQuestions

1. Tagged! It‘s my current read and the only book I‘ve read this year with mystery elements so far. 😳 I‘m about 2/3rds of the way through, and already the book has thrown a twist at me I didn‘t see coming.

2. My vote for next book I‘m going to read changes almost daily, but I‘ve been eyeing my copy of “The Sun Down Motel”.

3. I do especially love mysteries with supernatural elements. 👻

RaeLovesToRead Ooh! I have sun-down motel too!! 🥰😁 5mo
kspenmoll Read the Sun Down Motel!!!! 4mo
mcctrish I vote for Sun Down Motel! The cover is spectacular and I LOVE Simone St James 4mo

❤️ Most definitely The Only One Left by Riley Sager! He is one of my top favorite mystery/thriller authors!

❤️ The Thursday Murder Club by Richard Osman! I keep hearing great things about it and I need to set aside time for it!

❤️ I don't know if this is technically a trope, but I do LOVE when the protagonist is an unreliable narrator! 🤭 It's such fun!

RaeLovesToRead Awesome!!! I need to read some Sager!!! And yes, Thursday Murder series is ace 😁 5mo
BiblioLitten I watched Richard Osman in the Taskmaster and now I want to read the series! 4mo

#ihavequestions Thanks for the tag, Rae!

I‘ve read some great mysteries this year, but I‘ll have to go with A Judgement in Stone by Ruth Rendell for the best. SO GOOD!

Looking ahead to early 2024, I‘m most excited for the new Denfeld (tagged) and The Mysterious Case of the Alperton Angels by Janice Hallett.

Not exactly a trope, but I‘m always drawn to mysteries with a supernatural element. Oh, and I can‘t resist an elderly sleuth.

Tamra Thanks for the reminder to read Rendell! 5mo
RaeLovesToRead Ooh, I'm also looking forward to Alperton Angels, and her Christmas one!! 5mo
AlaMich A Judgement in Stone is definitely my favorite of Rendell‘s, and it‘s also right up there for all crime novels. 5mo
AmandaBlaze Oh, I didn't know about The Christmas Appeal. I'll add it to my list for #WinterGames. 5mo
JenReadsAlot I'm so excited for Rene's new book! 5mo

Sorry I'm late on this!
1. Tana French's IN THE WOODS ... opened up the Dubliner Series for me! I'm delighted that she's on @Soubhiville's #AuthorAMonth for next year as well!
2. I don't have one in particular right now, but I am looking forward to the wintry short stories/books this December; most are mysteries.
3. I love an excellently written locked room mystery. 🤩

RaeLovesToRead It's never too late... I always have questions 😉🙃 5mo
Amiable Tana French is SOOO good! 5mo

dabbe @Amiable Who knew? I've discovered so much more from Litsy and you wonderful people! 😍 5mo
kimrenee Now, another new author to try! 5mo
dabbe @kimrenee You'll love her! Another murder mystery author! 🩵🩶🩵 5mo
BiblioLitten @Amiable Do they have to be read in order? 4mo
Amiable @BiblioLitten I read them in the order they came out because I‘m anal-retentive like that, but I don‘t think you have to. Each book contains references to characters in the others, but I don‘t think there were any spoilers that would ruin the others you haven‘t read yet. 4mo
BiblioLitten Thank you!! It would bother me too if I read the second book before the first. 😅 4mo

1️⃣ A Dead Man Walking by JD Kirk
2️⃣ Currently I don't have anything on my radar. However, that could change.
3️⃣ I don't have a favorite. For me, it is all about the characters.

RaeLovesToRead Yes! Good characters are so important 😊 5mo

Thanks for the tag, @Kimzey !

1. For darker mysteries, I would say Exiles by Jane Harper. For cozies, Six Sweet Under by Sarah Fox

2. So many, both backlists and future publications! I have to catch up on Louise Penny and Donna Leon.

3. Probably locked room

#IHaveQuestions

RaeLovesToRead Yes! Locked room! 💕💕 5mo

Wrong Place, Wrong Time
I also enjoyed My Murder, Killers of a Certain Age,
and started a new-to-me series beginning with My Sister‘s Grave

The Spy Coast - a new Tess Garrison

I traditionally read police procedurals- Alex Cross, Eve Dallas, Kay Scarpetta, Temperence Brennan, and now Robert Dugoni‘s Tracy Crosswhite
#iHaveQuestions

RaeLovesToRead Yes, love a good procedural! 5mo
Chrissyreadit I love watching police procedurals too- like Shetland and Bones. Do you have one you absolutely recommend to read? 3mo

tpixie @Chrissyreadit I haven‘t read a lot of them lately. But I was pleasantly surprised by the Tracy Crosswhite series- it‘s new to me and reminded me why I liked them. (edited) 3mo
tpixie @Chrissyreadit I was quite surprised that he wrote another book (totally different genre) that I loved 3mo
Chrissyreadit thanks!!! adding My Sisters Grave to my tbr. I‘m unsure i would like extraordinary life…. because i really struggle with serious , sad close to real life (although there are some exceptions) but murder…. no problem 🤣 3mo
tpixie @Chrissyreadit lol I understand! Paranormal things can scare me in my home when I read about them, but I can read a murder mystery!! 3mo
tpixie @Chrissyreadit Serendipity! I started listening to a podcast & Robert Dugoni ( author of My Sister‘s Grave) was on it! What a coinkydink. I had to share with you. https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/you-are-what-you-read/id1707901821?i=10006... 3mo
