Waiting on a washing machine repair tech (5 people in a house with a broken washing machine - the piles are taking over!). "Sometime between 9 and 1." I know I could be doing other chores, but it feels like if I start on something, I could be interrupted right away, so instead, I read.

TheKidUpstairs @monalyisha @BarbaraBB I'm loving it so far. The style of it, a catalytic event rippling out through the lives of a community, reminds me of one of my favourites from last year: 18h

This is both my #doublespin for March and the March pick for the Morbidly Curious Bookclub. I didn‘t realize that it‘s built around the kidnapping of two young girls, but as soon as the girls were approached by a man, my whole body went “nope” and turned off the audiobook. I can‘t bear to see how it turns out. Posting my DNF for the #bookspin record. I see high praise for it here, but it‘s not for me.

TheAromaofBooks Certain plotlines are a nope for me, too - plenty of other books out there!! 3w

"As millions of Americans sit down to celebrate Thanksgiving, many around the world don‘t know the racist history behind the holiday. But Indigenous people have kept the true story alive for generations. Here‘s a brief look at the holiday‘s origins." (see tagged book).

I love when libraries have their little lists on Libby - this little gem is from Queens Public Library‘s Native American Heritage list. I may have downloaded like 10 books. Gonna read them while listening to football games.

So excited to read this to my littles. I am not a huge fan of thanksgiving. So i do try and find alternative books for them.

A high school near where I live just changed their mascot, and sadly it was quite a controversial issue. I think I'll put this book in some free little libraries in the area. 😏😏😏

Illustrated by Michaela Goade & influenced by Tlingit folklore, this book will be a great way to introduce the task of Poet Laureate and celebrate our native neighbors on whose unceded land we learn.

I read this in anticipation of reading the author‘s new book for #CampLitsy. I really loved the surprising and subtle ways the storylines connected in the book. The various stories weighed heavily on me for much of the time, but it was very good.

BarbaraBB I loved this one. My expectations for Bear are so high based on that but I have a feeling I should temper them. 9mo
sarahbarnes @BarbaraBB I feel like perhaps I should, too… 9mo
Suet624 I‘ve thought of this book so often that I feel like I should reread it. 9mo
sarahbarnes @Suet624 it was so captivating. 9mo

This is another I picked up at the Ky book fair last year. A story about Kit, part Native-American, who is writing her story after being placed in a school/group home. She writes about events leading up to her placement, the actions of the “Christians” running the school, & what happens there. Very good story if you can deal with reading some sexual abuse (TW).
