Power is out (storming big time currently), so it's onto the back porch we go to wait for it to come back on. At least the storm knocked the temps down by a good 15 or 20 degrees.

Quote from a one-nan show called "Bibliomania" by Roger Rosenblatt. The quote was in a coffee table book on libraries.
In the spirit of Kramer's "coffee table book about coffee tables," here's a "library book about libraries."
One of the first books I ever read on making a house a home. Growing up in a dysfunctional family, clutter and chaos was the norm. This book was life changing for twentysomething me. Rereading all these years later, I'm surprised at how many things are part of my routines. Yes, it's a bit dated and pretentious in places, but it taught me so much: seasonal eating, flowers in the house, and setting a pretty table. 🌸
I did a thing. I ventured out this weekend to see my daughter in Providence. We went to the Athenæum and then to Aleppo Sweets for some Arabic coffee with cardamom and of course some baklava. The Athenæum had a sale so I got 6 books for less than $10!!! No anxiety. It was lovely.
An unusual novel about mental illness and family, violence and revenge, love and secrets. It had a usual structure, cutting back and forth in time and the narrator occasionally speaks directly to the reader. Lots to think about in this book.
These prism glasses allow me to read in bed without straining my neck. Where have these beauties been all my life? 👀
