Me reading this page: *guy gets hit with gun* did someone just throw a gun at you?
*Reads the next pannel* that's what I said!

I'm making my way through this comic (graphic novel?) and loving it so far. It's a fun read.

What Makes You Beautiful | Bridget Liang

I went ahead and ordered a few books with some birthday money from August (finally)! I decided instead of buying a silly Switch-themed case for an electronic, I'd buy some books by queer authors. One favorite book (Trans Like Me) and 2 I haven't read! #queerauthor #lgbtqauthor #newbook #diversity #neurodiversity #autism #bookhaul

LiteraryinLawrence I'm really curious about the Liang book. It's been on my list for a bit now! 4y
Kenyazero @LiteraryinLititz Same! I'm quite excited to read it. Hopefully I'll get to it soon. When I do, I'll post about it. 4y

Another Brooklyn: A Novel | Jacqueline Woodson

Pickpick

Jacqueline Woodson explores a number of complex themes through August's memory. We see grief, loss of a parent, growing up economically disadvantaged, city dangers for young black girls, sexual predators and abuse, and white flight, to name a few. I liked how the past and present were overlapped to give us a better idea of what was actually happening. #lgbtqauthor #blm

For #pridemonth2020, I'm highlighting 30 openly LGBTQ+ authors. Mia McKenzie is a feminist, activist, author, and performance artist. Her work appears regularly in the Kenyon Review, and her first novel received a Lambda Literary Award. #lgbtqvoices #lgbt #lgbtq #blackvoices #pocvoices #blackauthor #lgbtqauthor

Pickpick

I read this for #YAbook by a #LGBTQauthor for #readharder. To be honest I am struggling to find books I want to read for the last few challenge books and picked this one because it was short after I bailed on More Happy Than Not. Always fun to read something set in Paris and I wish I‘d read the print book so I could have seen these lovely illustrations. I don‘t know though.. YA isn‘t for me. Glad to get this checked off the list.

tjwill If you read a version without the illustrations, you are really missing out. The pictures don‘t just complement the story; they tell parts of the story without words. Leaving them out means that whole scenes are gone and the richness of the story is lost. 😬🙁 Brian Selznick‘s illustrations are so expressive and detailed. 6y
alisahar @tjwill oh I wish I had now! I listened to it as an audiobook. 😕 6y
tjwill I was surprised that you said it was short. I think it is around 600 pages in hardcover. I love audiobooks too! It‘s nice to hear the characters speaking to you as well. 6y

alisahar @tjwill It was only three hours as an audiobook (edited) 6y
kalinichta I'm surprised that there even is an audiobook of this. I can't even imagine it without the illustrations. Definitely check out the actual book if you have a chance. 6y
alisahar @kalinichta really wishing I had done that now! 6y

I fell in love with this book so hard last year. I don't own it...yet (need to remedy that!), but it's a favorite from an #LGBTQauthor. #junebookbugs

LaraReads Yay! Just checked it out from the library! 7y

I just posted this the other day, but this is my current #lgbtqauthor. Slow start, but I'm still intrigued.
